The Huawei Y6 2019 arrives this year with a fingerprint reader, a more prominent panel with almost no frames and a notch in the form of a drop of water. To all this we must add the latest version of Google's mobile operating system, Android 9, as well as a higher resolution selfie camera.

1. Design and display
Huawei has improved the design of the Y6 from generation to generation. It is something that we see with the naked eye as soon as we look at the new version. The current model offers a panel with hardly any frames and with a notch in the shape of a drop of water, which gives it greater prominence. This is also a slightly larger size, 6.09 inches. According to the company itself, it offers a screen / body ratio of 87%.

The bezels of the Huawei Y6 2018 are more prominent (it lacks a notch) and its screen is 5.7 inches. The resolution is the same on both terminals: HD + (1,440 x 720 pixels). It is true that the company could have surprised with a Full HD resolution in the new equipment. However, it should not be forgotten that this is the lowest range of the company. But the design of the Y6 2019 compared to 2018 has not only evolved on the front.
The rear also boasts improvements. For example, the company has now included a fingerprint reader to make payments or increase security, which shares the limelight with facial recognition. It has also arranged the main camera vertically rather than horizontally. The profile is apparently more stylized. This is due to the layout of the panel, since the measurements are very similar. It is worth highlighting a version with a leather back cover (only for the terminal in brown), which makes the Huawei Y6 2019 appear more elegant and sophisticated.
Processor and memory
At the performance level we will not notice drastic differences. That is, the two behave in a similar way when making basic use: browsing, checking email, writing WhatsApp, using Messenger or simple apps… The Huawei Y6 2018 landed with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor along with 2 GB of RAM. This year, the company has included a MediaTek MT6761 (Helio A22) with the same RAM.

Regarding storage if there are changes. From 16 GB, it is now 32 GB, with the possibility of expanding this space using a microSD card.
Photographic section
There have been no major improvements in the photographic section. The Huawei Y6 2019 has once again included a 13 megapixel main sensor with LED flash. However, the front camera has increased in resolution, and from 5 megapixels of the previous model it has gone to 8 megapixels, which means that we will enjoy better selfies.

Autonomy and connectivity
The batteries in the Y6 2018 and Y6 2019 are very close. The first model equips a 3,000 mAh, while the second houses a 3,020 mAh. It is a negligible rise between one generation and another, which will not help us scratch too many minutes (that without taking into account the adaptive battery mode of Android 9). Anyway, taking into account that these are incoming mobiles, we will have more than enough to last a whole day without having to charge them in the middle of the day.

At the level of connectivity we will find the usual ones for mobile phones: Bluetooth, LTE GPS or WiFi. The Y6 2019, yes, this year has a USB type C port instead of microUSB 2.0. In its favor we can also say a more outstanding audio system. The company explained during its presentation that an additional 6 dB has been added compared to other terminals, thus transforming it into a portable speaker.
Price and availability
To this day, the only one available of the two to buy is the Huawei Y6 2018. It can be found in stores such as Media Markt at a price of 120 euros. We do not know when the Y6 2019 will go on sale, although we hope it will not take long to land in Spain. We will update the news as soon as we have this information.
