The Huawei P20 Lite 2019 has just been launched by the Chinese brand in China. It does so with a series of characteristics very similar to those of the recently released Huawei P30 Lite. But not all that glitters is gold. And it is that although it may seem the opposite, the P20 Lite of 2019 is a much more complete mobile a priori than the P30 Lite. Which mobile is worth more in the middle of 2019? We see it in our comparison between the Huawei P20 Lite 2019 and the Huawei P30 Lite.

Design
Two different phone concepts and therefore two radically different designs, at least at the front.
And is that while the Huawei P30 Lite opts for a design whose front is based on a drop-shaped notch, the P20 Lite 2019 is based on an island-shaped notch located in the upper right corner. As far as specifications are concerned, while the Huawei P30 Lite opts for a 6.15-inch panel, the P20 Lite 2019 ups the ante to 6.4. Both panels have Full HD + resolution, IPS LCD technology and a 19.5: 9 ratio, so it is to be expected that the differences will be rather small in a real experience of use.

This year Huawei has decided to dress up a large part of its mid-range catalog with a multitude of sensors and lenses as far as the photographic section is concerned. With three cameras in the Huawei P30 Lite and up to four in the P20 Lite 2019, both terminals have a series of very similar characteristics.

In the case of the P30, the mid-range model opts for three sensors with wide-angle and telephoto lenses of 24, 8 and 2 megapixels with focal aperture f / 1.8 on the main sensor. The P20 Lite 2019, for its part, uses four 16, 8, 2 and 2 megapixel sensors with wide angle, telephoto and depth lenses and f / 1.8 focal aperture. In both cases, the wide-angle lens starts at 120º.
What mobile gives more for less? In technical data, the Huawei P20 Lite 2019 offers a higher quality when it comes to taking photographs in portrait mode by having a sensor dedicated exclusively to depth functions. On the contrary, the P30 Lite offers higher quality in the photos by having a sensor with higher resolution. We do not know more data from the sensors of each of the phones, however, it is expected that they are the same sensors in both cases.
Moving to the front, the P30 Lite has exactly twice the resolution of the P20 Lite 2019. Specifically, 32 megapixels compared to 16 for the P20 Lite. In this regard, the P30 Lite offers higher quality by having more resolution and is based on the same sensor as the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro. It should be added that the two sensors have the same f / 2.0 focal aperture.
Processor and memory
Huawei's mid-range mobile catalog of 2019 is characterized by basing its hardware on the well-known Kirin 710, and in the case of the P20 Lite 2019 and the P30 Lite it was not going to be less. It is expected, therefore, that the performance is the same in the two mobile phones of the Chinese brand.

Regarding the memory configuration, we did not find any great differences either, having 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage expandable through micro SD cards up to 512 GB in both cases. And it is that although it is true that the two terminals have 6 and up to 8 GB of RAM in other countries, in Spain we can only enjoy the version with 4 GB.
And what about Android? Neither terminal has been affected by the US veto on Huawei that Trump has imposed in recent weeks, which is why both have Android 9 Pie under EMUI 9.1, the latest version of Huawei's customization layer. We also find all Google services and the manufacturer's application store.
The support for Android updates from now on is in doubt, although everything indicates that the United States government will intercede in favor of Huawei.
Autonomy and connectivity
One of lime with autonomy and another of sand with connectivity. One of lime because we find no less than 4,000 mAh in the Huawei P20 Lite 2019 and 3,340 mAh in the Huawei P30 Lite. One of sand because in the two terminals we find identical connectivity: dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, FM radio and even a jack connection for headphones.
In both cases, we also find fast charging, although Huawei has not specified the type of charge or its power. In any case, the P20 Lite 2019 takes the cake in the autonomy section, at least in theoretical data. It remains to be seen if the fast charge also exceeds that of the P30 Lite to supply the increase in milliamps, although everything indicates that in both devices we will find a load of 18 W.
Conclusions and price
After seeing the main points of the Huawei P30 Lite vs Huawei P20 Lite 2019, it is time to draw conclusions, which are largely determined by the price of both terminals.
Currently we can find the Huawei P30 Lite for a price around 280 euros on Amazon. The P20 Lite, although it has not yet been officially launched in the Spanish market, is expected to start at a value of around 299 euros. Without counting the depreciation of the price of the latter, which will help to place both terminals at the same price barrier, from Tuexperto.com we consider that the P20 Lite 2019 is a much more complete model, and therefore, recommended.
More screen, higher theoretical battery capacity, a more complete photographic section a priori and an even more attractive and sophisticated design than that of the Huawei P30 Lite are some of the arguments that place the P20 Lite a step above its main adversary.
