Although not all have been, the MWC has brought us some of the most important terminals of this year. Therefore, today we wanted to compare two of the most anticipated models by all. Two high-end terminals that come with the latest in mobile technology. Two terminals that we have talked about at length, since they have been one of the most rumored and filtered on the market. Does Huawei's new flagship bring many news? Will LG finally be able to place itself among the largest? Today we put the Huawei P10 and the LG G6 face to face.
Design
Both Huawei and LG have decided to make design changes in their new terminals. In the case of Huawei there have been very subtle changes compared to the Huawei P9. The new model offers a design very similar to its predecessor, but with slightly more curved sides. However, the P10 does incorporate a great novelty at the design level. And is that the fingerprint reader is located in the front, under an oval button that reminds of other manufacturers.
Huawei P10
The back case is metallic, but it seems to be covered with some kind of ceramic or glass material that makes it feel very soft to the touch. At the top we find the double camera with the Leica logo. The camera area offers a somewhat darker color than the rest of the housing, in addition to being protected by a Gorilla Glass.
The full dimensions of the Huawei P10 are 145.3 x 69.3 x 6.98 millimeters, with a weight of 145 grams. The terminal will be available in a full range of colors: green, blue, white, pink, silver, black and gold.
On the other hand, LG has chosen to completely change the design that we saw in the LG G5. Thus, they have decided to say goodbye to modules and go for a metallic design in which the narrow frames at the front stand out. The Korean company has managed to insert a 5.7-inch screen into the space of a 5.2-inch device.
LG G6
As the screen occupies practically the entire front part, in the back we find the fingerprint reader. A rear that has been designed in glass, but has an unusual touch. In the upper area we find the double objective of the camera, located in a horizontal position.
One of the most interesting design features of the LG G6 is its resistance to water and dust. The terminal offers IP68 certification, the same as other terminals such as the Samsung Galaxy S7. The full dimensions of the LG G6 are 148.9 x 71.9 x 7.9 millimeters, with a weight of 163 grams. The terminal is available in three colors: white, black and silver.
screen
As we have commented in passing and now we will see, LG has wanted to surprise with its screen. However, this is not the case with the Huawei P10. The Chinese company continues to bet on IPS panels with 2.5D glass. The P10 offers a 5.1-inch screen with a Full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. This translates to a screen density of 432 dpi.
Huawei P10
Its rival in this comparison, however, does include great news on the screen. First, we have a 5.7-inch panel that, thanks to the fact that it has practically no frames, occupies the same size as a 5.2-inch panel. Second, the screen offers resolution QHD + 2,880 x 1,440 pixels. And, thirdly, to control the size of the device, the company has used an 18: 9 format. That is, the LG G6 screen is somewhat longer than normal.
LG G6
Finally, the LG G6 screen supports HDR images, both in Dolby Vision and HDR10 formats. That is, we can enjoy HDR content from platforms such as Netflix or Amazon Prime Video as soon as their applications are ready for it.
Processor, memory and operating system
We are comparing two terminals located at the top of the Android market, so, as you can imagine, both offer very powerful technical sets. While Huawei continues to bet on self-made processors, LG has opted for a Qualcomm processor. Which one will be more powerful?

The Huawei P10 does not really have a new processor, but inherits the one already incorporated by the Huawei Mate 9. That is, we have a Kirin 960 processor with eight cores, four running at 2.36 GHz and another four running at 1.84 GHz. graphic section a Mali G71 GPU is ordered. Accompanying this processor we have 4 GB of RAM and no less than 64 GB of internal storage. We can expand this capacity using a microSD card of up to 256 GB.
As we mentioned, LG have chosen to use a Qualcomm processor. And after the mess of exclusivity for Samsung of the Snapdragon 835, which it seems that finally will not take place, the Koreans have opted for the Snapdragon 821. A quad-core processor running at 2.4 GHz. This processor comes with 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. This capacity can be expanded using a microSD card of up to 2 TB.
As for the operating system, of course, both terminals opt for Android 7.0 Nougat. In the case of the Huawei P10, the EMUI 5.1 customization layer is included. LG also incorporates its own customization layer, but we will have to wait until the analysis of the terminal to see to what extent it modifies the base system.
Camera and multimedia
Let's see now what these two companies have prepared for us in the photographic section. We are comparing two flagships, so their cameras cannot let us down. Huawei continues to collaborate with Leica to offer a dual lens main camera. The Huawei P10 incorporates a sensor 12 megapixel color with optical image stabilization and f / 2.2. In addition, it incorporates a second sensor, this time monochrome, which has a resolution of 20 megapixels and aperture f / 1.9. The main camera is capable of recording video in 4K resolution.
Huawei P10
At the front, the Huawei P10 incorporates a camera with 8 megapixel sensor with fixed focus system.
LG also continues to bet on the dual camera system. Specifically, we have two lenses with 13 megapixels of resolution each. One of them is a 125-degree wide-angle and f / 2.4 aperture, while the other offers an f / 1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization.
LG G6
On the front, the LG G6 incorporates a camera with a 5 megapixel sensor, f / 2.2 aperture and a 100-degree wide angle. So no one is left out in group selfies.
We end this section by commenting that the LG G6 incorporates a Quad DAC, which improves sound reproduction, achieving a sound up to 50% clearer than simple DAC systems, according to company data.
Autonomy and connectivity
At the moment we have not had the opportunity to thoroughly test either of the two terminals, so we cannot give you real performance data. The Huawei P10 incorporates a 3,200 milliamp battery inside. According to Huawei, this battery achieves an autonomy of up to 1.8 days without going through the charger with normal use. In addition, a fast charging system has been included that is capable of offering a full day's battery with only 30 minutes of connection to the network.
Huawei P10
The LG G6 incorporates a 3,300 milliamp battery. In principle it is a good piece of information, but we must not forget that we are talking about a terminal with a 5.7-inch screen and a very high resolution. We will have to wait to verify its real autonomy, but it could be seriously affected. At the moment the company has not given official autonomy data.
And in terms of connectivity, as you can imagine, both terminals come prepared with the latest. They both have Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, 802.11ac WiFi, and a USB-C charging connector.
LG G6
However, it is fair to note that Huawei has placed four antennas on the P10 that will allow a superior mobile connection, which they have called 4.5G. According to their own studies in the United Kingdom, with the Huawei P10 there are 60 percent fewer cuts due to low connection. A better connection is also promised in tunnels and isolated areas.
Conclusions
We reached the end of the comparison and it is time to draw conclusions. The first thing we should comment on is that we are facing two of the best devices of the year, so neither will disappoint us. At the design level, what is going to condition us the most is the size of the screen. And is that the LG G6 offers a huge 5.7-inch screen in a slightly larger body than its rival. If you are looking for the largest screen possible, there is not much more to say.
However, in the technical section it is possible that the Huawei P10 has some advantage. The Kirin 960 processor is a very powerful chip and could outperform LG's chosen Snapdragon. However, it is too early to know for sure, we must wait for the thorough tests of both terminals and the results of the tests. What we do know is that with both we will have a perfect performance.
Huawei P10
In the photographic section we have two terminals with a double objective, but with very different proposals. It is difficult to say if one is better than the other in this section. In the absence of testing them thoroughly, we are sure that both proposals will be up to par.
Finally, in terms of autonomy, although the battery capacity of both phones is very similar, we think that the Huawei P10 could have an advantage. As we have commented, it is very possible that the large screen and, especially, its high resolution, can seriously affect the autonomy of the LG G6. However, it remains to be seen whether LG's software does a good job in this regard.
LG G6
We only need to talk about the price. The Huawei P10 will hit the market with a price of 650 euros. On the other hand, it seems that the LG G6 will have a price that will be around 750 euros (to be confirmed). At the moment the companies have not confirmed the launch date of the devices.
