Huawei has in its catalog a range that is a great sales. And no, we are not talking about the high end. We refer to the 'Lite' family of devices. The cut versions are popular with audiences and account for a large part of the company's sales. And it is not surprising, since they are usually terminals with more than decent technical characteristics and a competitive price. Also, to curl the curl, this year we will have two models to choose from. Today we put them face to face to know what differences exist between them. We compare the Huawei P10 Lite and the Huawei P8 Lite 2017.
Design
If we look at the image above, we may think that we are seeing the same terminal in two colors. And it is that these two terminals offer a very similar design. Still, they are not identical. The Huawei P10 Lite offers a similar design to the Huawei P10, with a metallic back with a soft touch. The screen takes up most of the front, as usual, and has rather narrow borders.
The fingerprint reader is located at the rear. A rear part in which the upper strip that keeps the camera stands out. This area has a slightly darker color than the rest of the case. The camera lens stands out from the rest of the housing.
Back and side of the Huawei P10 Lite
The full dimensions of the Huawei P10 Lite are 146.5 x 72 x 7.2 millimeters, with a weight of 146 grams. Regarding the color gamut, the leaks show three colors: black, gold and a striking bright blue color.
For its part, the Huawei P8 Lite 2017 uses 2.5D glass on both sides of the terminal, with metal frames. In the front we do not have any remarkable element, beyond the screen. Like its rival, the display has practically no side bezels.
On the back we find the fingerprint reader. This time we have a uniform back, without color changes. The camera lens takes up very little space and is fully integrated with the housing.

The full dimensions of the Huawei P8 Lite 2017 are 147.20 x 72.94 x 7.6 millimeters, with a weight of 147 grams. The terminal is available in four colors: black, white, gold and blue. Although it is fair to point out that the blue color has not yet reached stores in our country.
screen
It's no wonder that both devices are so similar in size. Both feature a 5.2-inch IPS screen. The resolution chosen by Huawei is 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, that is, Full HD. Taking these data into account, the density of the screen remains at 424 dpi.
Curiously, the company has decided to provide the Lite versions with a larger screen. Recall that the Huawei P10 incorporates a 5.1-inch screen.

Processor, memory and operating system
As with the screen, the technical set of both terminals is similar. Although in this case it is not identical. Of course, the Lite version of the company's flagship incorporates a more current processor.

The Huawei P10 Lite is powered by an eight-core HiSilicon Kirin 658 processor. This processor comes with a generous 4 GB of RAM and a storage capacity of 32 GB.
Its rival, the Huawei P8 Lite 2017, offers inside a Kirin 655 processor also manufactured by Huawei. It is the same processor that the Honor 6X incorporates. It is a chip with eight cores, four 2.1 GHz and four 1.7 GHz cores, and a Mali-T830 MP2 GPU. Accompanying this processor we have 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. This capacity can be expanded using a microSD card of up to 128 GB.
As for the operating system, both terminals come with Android 7.0 Nougat as standard. And both incorporate Huawei's EMUI customization layer in its fifth version.
Camera and multimedia
At the moment we do not have too much data about the Huawei P10 Lite camera. But everything seems to indicate that it will be very similar (if not the same) to that of its rival in this comparison.
Huawei P10 Lite main camera
As usual, Leica cameras are reserved for top-of-the-range models. Therefore, the Huawei P10 Lite has a main 12 megapixel camera with a focal aperture of f / 2.2, if we consider rumors.
The front camera is 8 megapixels of resolution and comes with a better focal aperture than the front one, f / 2.0. Both the main and front cameras can record video in Full HD resolution.
Of the Huawei P8 Lite 2017 we do have official data, although the company has not explained too much. We know that it has a 12 megapixel main camera, with a larger pixel size (1.25 µm) that allows more light to be captured, thus improving the final result. The camera is accompanied by an LED Flash and a PDAF focus system capable of focusing in 0.3 seconds.
Huawei P8 Lite 2017 main camera
On the front we find a selfie camera with an 8 megapixel sensor and integrated beauty mode.
On a sound level, we still do not know if the Huawei P10 Lite will have any remarkable function. The Huawei P8 Lite 2017, however, incorporates SWS 2.0 (“super wide sound”). It is a system that offers 3D audio, increasing the stereo range and sound quality, accentuating the bass and improving the loudness.
Autonomy and connectivity
Neither model disappoints when it comes to autonomy. The Huawei P10 Lite has a 3,000 milliamp battery, the same capacity as the Huawei P8 Lite 2017. Both devices have, a priori, a fairly good capacity. In the absence of testing both models thoroughly, this ability should give us a day and a half autonomy without problems.
Battery connector for Huawei P8 Lite 2017
As for connectivity, as you can imagine, both terminals offer practically the same. We still need to know the type of WiFi and connector that the Huawei P10 Lite will offer. We must comment that we are surprised by the use of a MicroUSB connector in the P8 Lite 2017. The logical thing would have been to go to USB-C. We also don't like that the WiFi is 802.11n, as the company should have upgraded to 802.11ac WiFi.
Conclusions and price
Huawei is very clear that the 'Lite' versions of its top terminals are very successful. Therefore, this year we have a double version. On the one hand an updated version of the well-known P8 Lite. And, on the other hand, the expected trimmed version of its current flagship. Which is better? It is difficult to say because the truth is that they are very similar.
Both terminals offer a similar design, one in glass and the other in metal. And both incorporate exactly the same screen.
Huawei P10 Lite in the new blue color
On a technical level the Huawei P10 Lite is superior. It offers a more modern processor and more RAM. We will also get a higher storage capacity.
That difference is not found in the photographic section. If we look at the leaks, the Huawei P10 Lite will offer the same camera as the Huawei P8 Lite 2017. We will also have the same team at the front.
Huawei P8 Lite 2017 range
Finally, at the autonomy level, the Huawei P10 Lite should be ahead. Although it is true that the difference in battery capacity is minimal, so it should not be a deciding factor.
Finally we have to talk about the price, something that could help us decide. The Huawei P10 Lite will cost 350 euros, if we listen to rumors. The Huawei P8 Lite 2017 is priced at 240 euros. Is it worth paying the difference? Honestly, unless the P10 Lite surprises us with something new, we think not.
