Comparison huawei p smart vs honor 7x, which is better?
Table of contents:
This year the mid-range is more interesting than ever. Although there are still many models to see, those that have reached the market already show what we will see in the coming months. The frameless screen design or very narrow bezels prevail, along with the multiple cameras. And these are precisely some of the most important characteristics of the two mobiles that we are going to compare today. Both the Huawei P Smart and the Honor 7X offer a beautiful design and very interesting technical characteristics.
As you know, Honor is Huawei's second brand, although in recent years it has stood out almost more than the main brand. And it has done so thanks to models that have conquered users. So today we are going to compare two very similar terminals. Both share some characteristics, but they also have important differences. The price of the two is very similar, so we want to help you if you are in doubt between these two terminals. Today we compare the Huawei P Smart and the Honor 7X.

Design
Believe it or not, the design will not be a determining factor when choosing between these two terminals. And it is that both models are practically identical.
The Huawei P Smart has an all-metal body and rounded edges. In its back we find the fingerprint reader, located in the central part. The dual camera lenses are at the top left. In the lower area we have the Huawei logo. We also see two lines in brighter color, both on the top and the bottom.
The front is governed by the screen, although this does not cover the entire front. We have a frame at the top, which houses the front camera, and another at the bottom, with the Huawei logo. It also has narrow but visible side frames.
The dimensions of the Huawei P Smart are 150.1 x 72.05 x 7.45 millimeters, with a weight of 143 grams. It is available in three colors: black, blue and gold.
Practically the same design offers the Honor 7X. This one also features an all-metal body and rounded edges. The fingerprint reader is located in the central part and the double camera in the upper left area. In this model the lenses protrude more from the housing than in the Huawei model.
On the other hand, the stripes of this model are somewhat higher, crossing even with the camera lenses. As for the front, we could say that it is practically identical to that of its rival, changing the Huawei logo for that of Honor.
The dimensions of the Honor 7X are 156.5 x 75.3 x 7.6 millimeters, with a weight of 165 grams. It is available in blue, black and red.
screen
As we mentioned at the beginning, the screen with reduced frames is one of the star features of this year. And this is demonstrated by the two terminals that we are facing.
The Huawei P Smart offers a 5.65-inch screen with an FHD + resolution of 2,160 x 1,080 pixels. In addition, the screen is protected with 2.5D glass, which allows the edges to be rounded.
Its rival in this comparison offers a somewhat larger panel. Specifically, the Honor 7X has a 5.93-inch screen with a FHD + resolution of 2,160 x 1,080 pixels. The screen offers 18: 9 aspect ratio, more than 16 million colors and a density of 407 dpi.
Cameras
We now review the photographic section. Both terminals offer a dual camera system, although we cannot expect the same result as high-end terminals.
The Huawei P Smart equips a dual sensor system with 13 + 2 megapixels. The mission of the second sensor is, as you can imagine, to achieve the desired bokeh effect.
On the front we have an 8 megapixel sensor with f / 2.0 aperture. As usual, the Huawei P Smart has a beauty system, which improves selfies at the software level.
Its rival in this comparison includes a very similar system. In the back we have a double 16 + 2 megapixel sensor. The objective of the second sensor is the same as we mentioned previously.
On the front of the Honor 7X we have an 8 megapixel sensor. A beauty mode is also included, although this time it has been reduced to portrait mode. Because yes, the Honor 7X offers a software portrait mode on the front camera.
Processor and memory
Belonging to it means sharing some characteristics. On this occasion, in addition to the design, both terminals include the same processor, manufactured by Huawei.
Specifically, the Kirin 659 processor has been used, an eight-core chip. Four of these cores run at a speed of up to 2.36 GHz, while the remaining four run at 1.7 GHz. It is a processor designed for the mid-range, and it shows in its performance. With most apps and games we will not have problems, but we can show a lack of power in the most demanding games.
We do have differences in terms of the memory included in both terminals. The Huawei P Smart is available in various combinations, but the one that has arrived in Spain has 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. This capacity can be expanded using a microSD card.
On the other hand, the Honor 7X equips 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. This capacity can also be expanded using a microSD card up to 256 GB.
Autonomy and connectivity
Also in the battery we have small differences that, on the other hand, are normal due to the difference in screen size. The Huawei P Smart equips a 3,000 milliamp battery. We have not had the opportunity to thoroughly test this terminal, but the logical thing is that it can endure the day without problems.
As we mentioned, the Honor 7X has a larger screen, so it was logical that the battery has a greater capacity. Specifically, it has a 3,340 milliamp battery.
In our in-depth test it lasted a whole day without looking for a plug. With regular use of messaging apps, occasional YouTube videos, and web browsing. However, at the end of the day we will have to charge the battery yes or yes.
In terms of connectivity, both terminals have 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11n, Bluetooth and USB 2.0. They even agree that both devices keep the Micro USB port. We assume that the goal of not switching to USB-C ports is to save costs.
Finally, we also have a major difference in the operating system. While the Huawei P Smart comes with Android 8.0 and EMUI 8.0, the Honor 7X makes do with Android 7.0 + EMUI 5.1.
Conclusions
It has become clear throughout the comparison. The Huawei P Smart and the Honor 7X are two very similar terminals. First, they are practically identical in design. Both terminals have an all-metal body, with rounded edges and reduced frames.
Both have the fingerprint reader located on the back, in exactly the same area. Even the double sensor of the camera is located in the same place, the upper left corner. We do have a subtle difference, and it is that the cameras of the Honor terminal protrude a little more from the housing.
Perhaps the most differentiating element that could make the balance stand out is the screen. Although the difference is not huge, it can be decisive. The Huawei P Smart has a 5.65-inch screen, a good size but below the current trend. On the other hand, the Honor 7X increases the panel to 5.93 inches, a size more in line with what other brands offer. Of course, both have the same resolution, FHD +.
The technical team could also tip the balance to one side or the other. Not because of the processor, since they both include the Kirin 659, but because of the memory. The Huawei P Smart has 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage, a set that could perhaps be somewhat fair. However, the Honor 7X equips 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage, a capacity more similar to those we see in the high range.
Nor will we have a compelling reason to choose one or the other on the battery. Although the Huawei terminal has less capacity, it also has a smaller screen. So, in the absence of thoroughly testing the P Smart, we could leave this section in a draw.
We also have a tie in the connectivity section, since both terminals offer exactly the same. To save costs, neither has a USB-C or WiFi 802.11ac connector.
And we finish this comparison talking about the price. The Huawei P Smart is on sale from February 1 with an official price of 260 euros. On the other hand, the Honor 7X is already on sale with a price of 260 euros. In the official online store of Honor we can get it at this price only until February 14.
