Comparison: htc one s vs motorola razr
HTC presented its new line of HTC One smartphones at the Mobile World Congress last February. It contains the HTC One S, a high-end smartphone that is only surpassed by the HTC One X with a dual-core processor. On the other hand, playing "" perhaps "" in the same league is the Motorola model: the mobile made from Kevlar fiber and which is called Motorola RAZR.
Both smartphones share many features and can be framed within terminals with 4.3-inch screens. However, what differences are there between the two models? Next we are going to make a comparison of characteristics between them and see which equipment is the one that best suits the needs of each user.
Design and display
What most draw the attention of the Motorola RAZR is its design: it is a smartphone very fine "" has a thickness of only 7.1 millimeters "and" will be appreciated that the chassis is made of an unusual material in the industry: fiber by KEVLAR. This material is very resistant which, despite its thinness, is a compact device. On the other hand, its screen is made of Gorilla Glass material from the Corning company. This means that it is also resistant to bumps and scratches.
Meanwhile, the HTC One S has a different design: rounded edges and somewhat larger thickness: 7.8 mm. However, it must be said that it is another of the thinnest teams in the mobile landscape. Likewise, its design achieves a different look: an oxidation technique has been used to achieve a ceramic appearance of its chassis.
As far as screens are concerned, both models share the same size: 4.3 inches diagonally and have the same qHD resolution (960 x 540 pixels). In addition, the technology used in both cases is SuperAMOLED, which will save extra energy in addition to seeing more vivid colors from the terminal screen.
Finally, despite being large smartphones "" leaving aside equipment such as the Samsung Galaxy S3 or Samsung Galaxy Note "" their weights are quite contained: 119.5 grams for the HTC mobile and 127 grams for the model from Motorola.
Connectivity
When it comes to connections, both HTC One S and Motorola RAZR behave like true champions. One of the most important aspects when buying a smartphone is that it has all kinds of connections, freeing the end user from having to carry more equipment. Although they can always be combined with a tablet or laptop if you want to write long writings.
First of all, the two models offer the possibility of visiting Internet pages through WiFi connections or next- generation 3G mobile networks. On the other hand, and if what you want is to share material with other equipment (computers, tablets, mobile phones or video consoles), you can use technologies such as those known as Bluetooth version 4.0 or DLNA. The latter works with WiFi networks and allows you to share audiovisual material without using cables.
But if what you want is to use a more common interface and that the vast majority of televisions or monitors on the market include among their technical specifications, both Motorola RAZR and HTC One S will be able to use an HDMI port, although with a special cable in it. HTC model and with one that goes from miniHDMI to conventional HDMI in the case of Motorola.
On the other hand, use headphones with cables or speakers connected to the smartphone , in both cases there is a standard 3.5-millimeter audio output. As well as, a MicroUSB port to synchronize data with a computer or charge the battery.
Photo camera and multimedia
In the multimedia content creation section, both models have two cameras: one front and one rear, which would be the main one. First of all, the front camera that Motorola RAZR equips has a 1.3 Megapixel sensor capable of making video calls in HD quality. Meanwhile, the HTC One S must be content with a VGA sensor (640 x 480 pixels).
However, when looking at the rear cameras, the two terminals share a sensor: eight megapixels and have "" LED "type" flash with which to illuminate the darkest scenes and get more decent captures. In addition, you want to record videos, these smartphones reach a quality of 1,080 pixels or Full HD quality.
To all this must be added one of the functions that has recently been added together with Google's Android 4.0 icon system. And it is the ability to capture images while a video is being recorded.
As far as media playback is concerned, the two teams are capable of displaying all kinds of files on their 4.3-inch screens. Among the most complicated formats are the Mastroska or MKV which, despite being so heavy "" that they take up a lot of space "" can be played on both terminals.
Operating system and applications
Recently Motorola warned its users "" among which are the Spanish "" that the update to Android 4.0 was ready to reach the Motorola RAZR and Motorola RAZR Maxx "" the same model but with more battery "". On the other hand, HTC One S is sold as standard with this version of the Mountain View mobile operating system.
Also, the user interface used by both terminals is different: HTC Sense in version 4 for the Taiwanese model. And Motorola the same with its proprietary interface. Although in this section everything will depend on personal tastes to opt for one or the other. Of course, both models receive notable improvements, not only at the aesthetic level, but also in functions such as better management of the consumption that the user of his terminal does such as the battery, the control of Internet data expenditure, etc…
Meanwhile, in both cases you will be able to enjoy Google services as famous as YouTube to watch online videos, Gmail to manage email accounts or Google Calendar to keep the entire event schedule up to date. In addition, you can access the store Google Play where you can download third party applications to get even more performance and customize the terminal using their own as well as being able to download e - books or movies; services that were recently added.
Power and memory
HTC One S and Motorola RAZR are computers that work with dual-core processors. In the case of the North American, a model has been added that works at a working frequency of 1.2 GHz; the HTC One S raises that frequency to 1.5 GHz. Of course, both smartphones have a RAM of one GB.
However, one of the main differences that exists in the two protagonists of the comparison is that Motorola RAZR has an internal storage space of 16 GB but it can be increased with 32 GB more thanks to the use of memory cards in MicroSD format. For its part, the HTC One S also has a storage capacity of 16 GB but lacks an expansion slot for memory cards. Therefore, to increase this space, Internet-based services should be used.
Battery and opinions
Motorola declares that its Motorola RAZR has a battery with a power of 1,780 milliamps and that it is capable of withstanding up to 562 minutes of conversation and up to 305 hours of standby time. For its part, HTC does not comment on the autonomy that its pupil can reach, although it does say that the power of the battery is 1,650 milliamps. Although it must be said that the exact numbers will depend on the use of each client.
They are two latest generation smartphones but without having the power declared by some models such as HTC One X or Samsung Galaxy S3 that have quad-core processors. Even so, they are teams that behave like a charm in daily work and that users who do not want to make the most of the qualities of their terminal when playing next-generation games, surely do not notice the difference in performance.
The screens of HTC One S and Motorola RAZR come to have the same measurements and use the same technology: 4.3 inches and SuperAMOLED. Therefore, the user will feel comfortable when viewing content from them. However, the main differences between the two phones "" leaving aside the design "" is the processor issue and, above all, the possibility or not of expanding the internal memory with MicroSD cards. For the rest, the operation and final choice may be due both to its sales prices or to the tastes of each client.
