It seems that the Honor 10 has penetrated deeply among users. The terminal has been sold out on the manufacturer's website, which is proof of its success. And it is not surprising, because it offers some very interesting features at a competitive price. Such a competitive price that it barely costs a few euros more than the Huawei P20 Lite. The trimmed version of the Huawei P20 is very interesting, but can it compete with its Honor cousin?
If you are going to buy a new terminal and see these two terminals in the store, it is very likely that you do not know what differences there are between them. In sight, as you can see in the image above, they are very similar. However, inside we have some differences that can be decisive. So today we wanted to compare the Honor 10 with the Huawei P20 Lite. Is it worth investing 50 euros more in the Honor terminal? Let's check it out.

Design
Let's be honest, the design of these two terminals is very similar. We cannot say that they are identical, because there are differences. It is those small details that can make us like one terminal more than another.
Both the Honor 10 and the Huawei P20 Lite use glass as the main material. The finish of the first one seems brighter than that of the Huawei terminal. On the Honor 10 the camera is located in the upper left, horizontally. This protrudes a bit from the case, thus losing the full integration we saw in its predecessor. In the lower area we only have the manufacturer's logo.
On the front we have a screen with a notch and a lower frame that houses the fingerprint reader under the glass. This goes completely unnoticed if you don't look closely.
The full dimensions of the Honor 10 are 149.6 x 71.2 x 7.7 millimeters, with a weight of 153 grams. It is available in four colors: gray, blue, black and green.
As we said, the glass of the Huawei P20 Lite seems less bright than that of its rival. The arrangement of the elements also changes. The camera is located in the upper left, but in a vertical position.
This time the fingerprint reader is located at the back, with a more classic design. The front is dominated by the screen, also notched. In the lower area of the screen we have a small frame, in which we only see the Huawei logo.
The Huawei P20 Lite has dimensions of 148.6 x 71.2 x 7.4 millimeters, with a weight of 145 grams. It is available in four colors: black, blue, pink and gold.
screen
There is no doubt that the screen is becoming very important in any range of mobiles. Not because of their resolution, but because they are getting bigger and bigger.
The Honor 10 has a 5.84-inch panel with an FHD + resolution of 2,280 x 1,080 pixels. The screen offers a 19: 9 aspect ratio, achieving a screen-to-body ratio of 86%.
The screen of the Huawei P20 Lite is practically identical, although with small differences. It also offers a size of 5.84 inches and an FHD + resolution of 2,244 x 1,080 pixels. The difference in resolution is due to the P20 Lite's screen offering an 18.7: 9 aspect ratio.
Cameras
Before talking about the technical characteristics, we will review the photographic section. Both terminals offer a double camera system on the back, but the differences, this time, are considerable.
The Honor 10 is equipped with a dual 24 + 16 megapixel sensor. They both have a good f / 1.8 aperture.
On the front it includes a 24 megapixel sensor. But the most interesting thing about the Honor 10 photographic set is its artificial intelligence system. It is capable of recognizing up to 500 scenarios in real time, classified into 22 categories. And, as we saw in the in-depth review, it works quite well.
The Huawei P20 Lite, however, makes do with a much more modest system. Its main camera is equipped with a double 16 + 2 megapixel sensor. These sensors have an aperture of f / 2.2 and f / 2.4 respectively. As you can imagine, the second sensor is used to achieve the desired bokeh effect.
For selfies we have a 16 megapixel sensor and f / 2.0 aperture. In our in-depth test of the terminal we were able to verify that, being a more than decent camera, it is not up to the top of the range.
Processor and memory
But the photographic section is not the only one that differentiates these two terminals. Despite both carrying a Huawei processor, the power of one and the other is not comparable.
The Honor 10 hides inside the most powerful processor of Huawei. Yes, we are talking about the Kirin 970, a chip with eight cores (four running at 2.36 GHz and another four at 1.8 GHz).
In addition, this is accompanied by the neural processing unit (NPU). This is what allows artificial intelligence to be used in photography.
Accompanying this powerful processor we have 4 GB of RAM and 64 or 128 GB of internal storage. It is important to choose the correct capacity when buying the terminal, because the Honor 10 does not have a microSD card slot.
For its part, the Huawei P20 Lite has a Kirin 659 processor. It is a chip with eight cores, four of them running at 2.36 GHz and the other four at 1.7 GHz.
Accompanying the processor we will have 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. However, the P20 Lite does have a microSD card slot.
Autonomy and connectivity
Let's now see how these two terminals are on the battery. The Honor 10, having more power, will require a larger battery. And so it is. It has a capacity of 3,400 milliamps. In addition, it is equipped with a fast charging system.
Its rival in this comparison has a lower battery. The Huawei P20 Lite is equipped with a 3,000 milliamp battery. However, having a less powerful processor, it manages to last the whole day without problems.
In the tests the Honor 10 got 9,280 points in AnTuTu, compared to 7,136 points for the Huawei P20 Lite.
Regarding connectivity, both have Bluetoot, WiFi 802.11n, 4G LTE and GPS. Also, both include NFC and USB Type-C. And by the way, both the Honor 10 and the Huawei P20 Lite keep the 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Conclusions and price
Reviewing the characteristics of each terminal, we could give a clear winner. But let's see it in parts.
In design we have two very similar mobiles. Only the small details that we have been seeing differences to the Honor terminal from Huawei. The two most notable differences between these two computers are the brightness and the location of the fingerprint reader.
As we always say, the one we like more one design or another is something very personal. In my opinion, the Honor 10 is a little step ahead of the Huawei P20 Lite.
As for the screen, we have a clear tie. Both offer a panel of the same size and practically the same resolution.
The same does not happen in the photographic section, where the Honor 10 is clearly the winner. Its double camera has better sensors, with greater aperture and resolution. In addition, it includes the artificial intelligence system that, as we have said, works really well.
Also in performance we have a clear winner. Without being a bad processor, the Kirin 659 is below the Kirin 970 that includes the Honor 10. For something the latter is the one used in Huawei's top of the range.
Otherwise, both have the same amount of RAM and similar storage. It is true that we can get a 128 GB version of the Honor 10, but it is because it is not expandable. Something that we must take into account.
And if we talk about autonomy, the tests do not lie. The Honor 10 would also be ahead in this regard, since its 400 milliamps more are worth.
Finally, we need to talk about the price. The Honor 10 is for sale with a price of 400 euros. If we want the model with 128 GB of storage we will have to pay 450 euros. On the other hand, the Huawei P20 Lite has an official price of 350 euros. Although looking good we may get it for something less. So is it worth paying 50 euros more for the Honor 10? The answer, without a doubt, is yes.
