Comparison 4g vs 3g, demonstration videos
The fourth generation of mobile networks arrives in Spain from this month of June thanks to Vodafone. Next month a couple more operators will follow, Yoigo and Orange. And the difference when it comes to browsing, downloading content or uploading material to the cloud is quite large. This type of network called 4G or LTE, achieves rates between 100 and 150 Mbps. Likewise, Orange has wanted to demonstrate, and recording in some videos, what is the time difference, in several sections, if it is done using a 3G network or a 4G network:download a music album, upload a video to the Internet, download a video game, download a magazine or newspaper, or watch a video through a streaming service.
The tests on 4G networks have been, in Spain, several months ”” years ”” of tests. And finally, this year 2013 the deployment of the fourth generation of mobile networks is launched. The first operator to venture is Vodafone, followed by Orange and Yoigo "" in that order "" for next July. And it has been Orange that has wanted to explain more graphically what are the advantages of getting a mobile capable of downloading content through this new technology, which in other countries they have been enjoying for some time.
Currently there are different terminals on the market that are compatible with the so-called 4G. Some examples are Samsung Galaxy S4, Nokia Lumia 920, HTC One, Sony Xperia Z, etc. Although there is also another sector that is awaiting this new connection and it is the market for tablets that will increase over the months.
The first significant test is the one that refers to the download of a video game. Of course, the result of the comparison will depend on the weight of the video game "" the MegaBytes it occupies "", but according to Orange, all things being equal, a mobile phone using 3G networks will take three minutes to download, while with the new 4G networks this time will be reduced to 15 seconds.
On the other hand, another of the most common practices among users is uploading their own material (photos or videos) to social networks. And the operator has also wanted to record the change that would make serving 3G networks or 4G networks. In the first case, if the user wants to upload a video to Facebook through a 3G connection, the estimated time would be 30 seconds, while with a 4G connection, the time would be almost priceless: it would only take two seconds.
Now, if you want to watch videos through streaming services like YouTube, with a 4G connection the thing is almost instantaneous; it will be to click on the chosen video and begin its reproduction "" according to the Orange demonstration, this action involves a second of waiting until the reproduction is loaded "", while in the case of using 3G networks, the action would entail a wait of five seconds until the video begins to play.
