Huawei was honored to announce one of the first devices with Android 7. The company last year introduced the Huawei Mate 9 with this version of the platform. Since then the firm has been working so that other models have the same luck. Not counting its latest releases, which already come standard with Android 7, the company has been able to update some of its equipment in recent weeks. Others, on the other hand, are still waiting for their share of Nougat. This is the case of the Honor 6X or the Honor 5C, models belonging to its Honor sub-brand.
Some of the Huawei terminals that have already received their update to Android 7 are the Huawei Nova, the Huawei P9, Huawei Mate 8 or Honor 8. That is, most of its leading devices can now enjoy the new version. The best thing is that it comes with the EMUI 5.0 customization layer. It is an interface that presents very positive changes. It is simpler, minimalist and faster. If you have doubts about whether your Huawei or Honor mobile can update or not, pay close attention. We are going to inform you about its calendar of updates to Android 7.
Huawei P9, P9 Plus and P9 Lite
First was the Huawei P9. In January of this year the company announced the update to Android 7 for this model. A few weeks later it did the same for the Huawei P9 Plus, the vitaminized version. We cannot say the same for the Huawei P9 Lite. The youngest of the family has yet to enjoy Nougat due to a delay in its release. Of course, it seems it will do so soon. There is talk that it could update between April and June, so the update would be to fall.
The improvements in this new version are obvious and include some changes and the new EMUI 5.0 interface. One of the most outstanding functions is the multi-window, which offers the user the possibility of enjoying two applications at the same time from the same screen. Better notification management has also been added, a more fluid and simple design for adjustments or positive changes in quick settings.
If you are the owner of a P9 or P9 Plus we imagine that you have already received a pop-up message on the panel of your device advising you of this update. If not, and if you just found out about the possibility of updating, you already know that you can check it yourself. You just have to enter the settings section, about the system, software updates and take a look. The update has been deployed via OTA. This means that you will not need to use cables to do it. You can do it from the device itself.
Huawei Nova and Nova Plus
In September last year Huawei surprised with two new mid-range terminals and Android 6. We are talking about the Huawei Nova and Huawei Nova Plus, which have recently received their dose of Nougat with EMUI 5.0, although for now only in China. At first, the Asian deployed a first beta of the platform, from which only 500 users could benefit. This happened in December of last year. Currently we are still waiting in Europe for the update to Android 7 for the Nova family. We think the rollout will begin shortly, although there is no exact date.
As we said, currently the only possibility to enjoy Nougat in both Nova and Nova Plus is by signing up for the beta program. Of course, we must bear in mind that we are talking about versions in tests, so they could contain bugs and problems. It is true that Android 7 is taking time to reach a large majority of devices. Not only for Huawei's, but also for its rivals. And it's even worse when you consider that Android 8 will be announced in just a few weeks. During the Google I / O developer conference, which will take place from May 17th.
Huawei Mate 8
The update to Android 7 for the Huawei Mate 8 was released late last year for the Chinese version. Users with the European model (NXT-L29) were relegated to the background, although not for long. At the beginning of the year that wait ended, and it is now possible to request the update through the HiCare app. It is important to mention that for the device to detect the update it is essential that it has the firmware version NXT-L29C432B192. This is the latest update available in Spain for the European model.
As we say, the update is done in a different way. Instead of going to the software update section (within settings), you will have to go to the company's HiCare technical support app. It is installed by default on the computer. Of course, you will have to make sure that you have version 2.0.2 or higher. Once we have launched this app, it will be necessary to go to the Service section. Next you will have to click on ROM Update and then on Request.
The Huawei tool will automatically detect the Nougat update for the Huawei Mate 8. It is a process that is completely automated. Once it has finished, you will have to restart the device to enjoy the new version.
Honor Family
Honor, Huawei's sub-brand, also has some devices that have already gotten the update to Android 7. Among them we can mention the Honor 8 and the Honor 6X. The first received it at the end of January. The second, for now, is only aimed at the beta program. This means that for now the final version of the platform has not landed for the Honor 6X, although it could arrive in the next few weeks. There is talk of the second quarter of 2017, so until June we can give the news. Another team that is having a lot of patience is the Honor 5c. He is also in charge of the beta program, so in his case Nougat could also land shortly.
