- HiSuite, Huawei's tool to downgrade EMUI (among other things)
- Activate the HDB function to control the mobile from HiSuite
- The final step: install an older version of EMUI
Going back to a previous version of Android is not easy. In fact, almost all telephone manufacturers today block this possibility. Fortunately, the vast majority of Huawei phones do allow you to return to a previous version of EMUI, the customization layer of the Chinese manufacturer. This process is known as downgrade . To do this, however, we have to resort to a program for Windows and Mac developed by the company itself. The steps to follow will be described below.
The method that we will use to install a previous version of EMUI and Android is compatible with all Honor and Huawei phones compatible with downgrade. Huawei P20 Lite , P30 Lite , Mate 10 Lite, Mate 20, Y5, Y6, Y9, P40 Lite, Honor 10 Lite, 20 Lite, View 20, 8X, 9X… It is also compatible with EMUI 10 and EMUI 9. In any case, tuexperto.com will not be responsible for any possible damage that may be caused to the terminal.
HiSuite, Huawei's tool to downgrade EMUI (among other things)
Either to go from EMUI 10 to EMUI 9 or from EMUI 9 to EMUI 8, HiSuite allows us to install an older version of Android and EMUI. We can download it to our computer from the following link:
Once we have installed the program on our computer we will have to connect our device to make sure that it is recognized by the latter. To do this, it is best to use the phone's original USB cable. When we have made sure that HiSuite recognizes our phone correctly, we can continue with the restoration process.
Activate the HDB function to control the mobile from HiSuite
The next thing we will have to do is disconnect the phone and activate the HDB function to interact with the terminal from HiSuite. We can locate this option in the Settings application, specifically in Security and privacy / Additional settings. Next, we will mark the boxes of Allow Hi Suite to use HDB and Revoke HDB connections, as we can see in the screenshot below.
The next step will be to connect the phone to the computer with HiSuite open. Next, the program will ask us to access the content of the phone to exchange information from one point to another. After accepting the operation, the program should show an interface similar to the one in the image below.
Now we have everything ready to go back to a previous version of EMUI.
The final step: install an older version of EMUI
Before proceeding with the installation of an old version of EMUI, it is convenient to clarify that all the data stored in the terminal will be completely eliminated. For this reason, it is recommended to perform a backup through the HiSuite options. Huawei also warns that reverting to a previous version from a modified version of EMUI can result in the total loss of the device.
With HiSuite open, we will click on the Update button that we can see in the image linked above. Then, we will select the option of Switch to other version or Change to another version if we have configured the program in Spanish. If the option in question does not appear in the program, the phone will not be compatible with the downgrade process and there will be no way to go back to a previous version of Android.
Finally, we will go to the Earlier versions or Previous Versions section and click on Restore or Restore. The last step to downgrade our Honor or Huawei phone will be to confirm the operation to proceed with the installation of the system. When the process is finished, we will disconnect the mobile and restart it.
