Do you have iOS 14 and want to go back to iOS 13? On many occasions the beta can be annoying, especially if you use the iPhone as your main device. Automatic reboots, battery problems or app crashes are some of the most common beta errors. Fortunately, there is a way to go back to iOS 13, and the truth is that it is quite simple. We explain how.
First steps: install iTunes on your Mac or PC
To return to iOS 13 from iOS 14 we will need a PC with iTunes. Fortunately, the platform is available on Mac and Windows, so you don't exclusively need a Mac computer. ITunes is already installed by default on Apple computers. In Windows you can download the app from the operating system's own application store.
Before starting the process you should know that iOS 14 backups will not be restored in iOS 13. That is, if you have backed up your iPhone in iOS 14, when you go back to iOS 13 it will be lost and the saved data will not appear. Yes, some files will, such as Photos, music etc. Here are the steps.
Steps to go back to the previous version of iOS
Connect iPhone to PC. You can use the iPhone's own charger. Remember to allow the link between the iPhone and the PC. Then turn off the iPhone and activate the recovery mode. Depending on the model it is activated in one way or another. In the iPhone with Face ID and without the home button and in the iPhone 8, 8 Plus and iPhone SE, you have to press once on the volume + button, once on the volume button - and press the power button. Hold it down until recovery mode appears.
In other models with Touch ID you have to press and hold the start button and the off button until it enters recovery mode. Do not release the buttons even if the Apple logo appears, otherwise it will not work.
iTunes will detect that the iPhone has entered recovery mode and will give us the ability to update or restore the iPhone. We must click on 'Restore'. This will restore to the latest stable version available and remove the beta version. This process may take a few minutes to complete. It is important that you do not disconnect the terminal or turn off the device.
Finally, you just have to configure the iPhone again. If you made a backup of iOS 13 before installing the new version you can restore it. This will keep all the settings. You may need to install some new iOS 13 software update.
Don't forget about the backup
If you were looking for a tutorial to install the beta of iOS 14, surely you read the phrase "make a backup of your iPhone" more than once. This point, which is usually the first before installing the latest version, is important for the following.
