We know that the Samsung Galaxy S3 integrates a very interesting camera eight megapĂxekes, which also can help us to record video with quality FullHD. But, do we know that the controller also has multiple options with which to give our captures a more personal touch? That's right, and also, with each new update, the software that gives us access to the camera grows in features and possibilities. Today we are going to review some of the wonders that can be achieved from a Samsung Galaxy S3 with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, which is the latest version available for this phone. If you still do not have it updated, from this article You can know how to update it, in case you already have this version available.
But let's get on with it. If we want to focus on the Samsung Galaxy S3, we will verify that they are available by pressing the magic wand icon, which appears in the left margin, if we intend to launch a photo with the mobile in a horizontal position, or above, in case the capture is carried out vertically. There are twelve effects that we will have in total. Once we select the one we want, it will remain activated until we close the camera application, so that we will have to select the desired effect again if we return to it.
There are a couple of filters playing pretend with retro effect our photo ( Vintage cold and Vintage warm ), another force levels creating strong areas of contrast ( Poster ), other than playing with lightings to burn the image contrast to the maximum ( Solarized ), a pair of them that desaturate the image, applying soft green or blue highlights (simply called Green and Blue , respectively), another that enhances warm tones, absorbing light to tint it in two colors ( Red-Yellow), another that significantly desaturates the image, although without eliminating the color ( Exhausted ) and another that reduces the capture to homogeneous spots of colors and shapes ( Cartoon ). The last three are the trio of classics of this type of filters: Black and white, Sepia and Negative.

On the other hand, the camera of the Samsung Galaxy S3 has other additional functions with which to obtain very different results. Next to the magic wand from which we have taken the effects palette, there is another icon, in this case, a rectangle that surrounds a smaller one. If we click there, we will open the options box for the shooting modes. With this, we can access several new camera control parameters. The first option is Single Shot , which, as the name suggests, is limited to capturing a single snapshot. As for the rest, what we find is the following:
- Best photo : the phone shoots a burst of eight images, from which it selects the one it considers to be best based on various criteria.
- Best face : in this case, as in the previous one is released burst, but now only five photographs, which focus on the faces of those who have been photographed. The system interprets the presence of several characters in four and allows us to combine the five captures so that each one appears in its best shot.
- Face detection : what we find now is the further simplification to the use of the function that we have just described.
- Panoramic : the operation of this option is as simple as it is attractive. What we can do is take a series of sweeping captures, so that the camera assembles all of them forming a single image in a wide panoramic format.
- Share shot : now we begin to insert the connectivity options integrated with the camera. This function takes advantage of the Wi-Fi Direct connection of the terminal, so that the users that we have close to and linked with us through this standard would receive the capture that we made as soon as we saved the image.
- HDR : although it is included in the shooting modes section, we could well see it among the filters and effects. It is a function that offers results obtained by combining several types of lighting on the same painting. However, this effect is not fully achieved on the Samsung Galaxy S3, and the captures are not as spectacular as expected from an HDR capture.
- Share friend photo : in this case, the system compares the faces that appear in the captured image with the faces of our registered contacts, so that it sends them a copy of the photograph using the means we decide.
- Beauty : the feature continues to focus on the faces of the photographed. With this mode, the system applies a mask that blurs imperfections so that the participants in the image appear as handsome as possible.
- Smile shot : very interesting. Thanks to this option, all we have to do is press the shutter button on the Samsung Galaxy S3 camera, but it will not take the photo until it verifies that all those photographed are smiling.
- Low Light : it is now a preset, with which the Samsung Galaxy S3 camera increases the exposure time of the capture, which would obtain brighter results in dark environments. It is important that we try to avoid moving the Samsung Galaxy S3 during this capture, since otherwise the image would be especially blurry.
And as we already mentioned on another occasion, many of these modes can be controlled directly by voice. To do this, we just have to tell the Samsung Galaxy S3 to shoot the image with that simple command: Shoot .
