After the latest Android 8 update on the Samsung Galaxy S8, many users of this device are encountering a drawback: Smart Lock, Samsung's smart option to avoid having to unlock the phone in trusted environments, has stopped working. The most frequent problem is that you will always be forced to unlock the phone. It does not matter if you are in a trusted site. And then there are cases of the totally opposite problem. The terminal will be unlocked in places that are not registered as trustworthy, without asking you for any type of verification by code, eye or face. It seems like an obvious software problem, but for both cases, we have found a couple of solutions.
The first option is to re-edit our Samsung account. We go to Settings> Cloud and Accounts> My Profile and there we enter our location data again in Places. If this option does not work, we can go to another: delete our Samsung account from the device and enter it again. To do this we must go to Settings> General Administration> Reset. This step will erase all the settings that we have changed to our phone and it will return to the default configuration, but it will solve the problem about the Smart Lock.
The second method is somewhat more complex, but more effective. Before explaining it, we want to advise that you click Wipe cache partition very carefully, because if you select another option, you can format the phone completely. The first thing we must do to carry out this option is to completely turn off our Galaxy S8. Then press and hold the Volume Down + Home buttons + On / Off / Lock screen button at the same time until the reset screen appears (image above this text or very similar).
Once in reset / recovery mode, select Wipe cache partition, using the volume buttons to navigate up and down and selecting option with the power button. After finishing the cache clearing process, select System now option to restart the phone. Once turned on, we can see how when using one of the unlocking options in Smart Lock trusted places, it will work without problems. For those whose problem is just the opposite, they will immediately see how the phone asks to enter an unlocking method if it is in an unsafe environment.
