There are those who think, and are totally wrong, that the Google Photos application only serves to upload our images to the cloud and have them stored safely. For the usual photo gallery they use other third-party applications or the one that the customization layer in question, or pure Android, offers us. Well, Google Photos may be, perfectly, the best photo gallery you can have on your mobile. One of the best advantages it offers, in addition to having all your photos stored in an unlimited way, is its intelligent search, capable of finding photos with a search term, for example, 'selfie' or 'car' or 'cat'… that you can think of. Do you need a photo from your gallery with a specific color? Put 'blue' in your search bar; Share an album with someone? Done; Create a collage, movie, album? Too.
If you have convinced yourself and want to have the Google Photos gallery as the default image application, we are going to carry out the following steps. You have to bear in mind that the tutorial that we elaborate below is made with a phone with Xiaomi MIUI layer, so if you have another layer (Samsung, Huawei, Pixel) the route may vary.
First, open your mobile phone settings. Then, we go down until we find the 'Applications' section and, within this, click on 'Manage applications'. When it finishes loading the applications that we have on our mobile, we are going to go to the three-point menu that we place in the upper right part of the screen and, here, we click on 'Default applications'. On this screen we are going to choose the default applications for different actions, such as, for example, opening a video, listening to music, browsing the Internet or viewing the images on our mobile. In 'Gallery' we press and, on the next screen, we choose 'Photos' in order to preset Google Photos as the default gallery in our system.
