You have already unlocked the bootloader of your Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and now you want to grant it root permissions to install, for example, the Google Pixel Gcam camera on your phone. Yes, we can have it without root mode, but there will be some functions that do not appear to us, such as, for example, the front camera with all that it entails (goodbye portrait mode). In addition, you can also install different modules with which to squeeze more your Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 as audio enhancers or install different ROMs to give your phone pure Android.
Let's root a Xiaomi Redmi Note 5
The first thing we have to have is the unlocked bootloader. If you do not know how to do it, here we leave you everything you need for it. If you already have it unlocked, enter the development options that you will find in 'Settings', 'Additional Settings' and 'Developer options' and make sure that you have USB debugging activated.
All the files you need to root the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5
Do we have it activated? Well now we are going to create a folder on the desktop called 'Root Note 5' and we are going to copy here all these files necessary for rooting.
There are 5 files that you must save in the folder that we have mentioned before. Do not change the name or unzip them, you should not do ANYTHING with them at the moment.
We begin the task. Follow the steps carefully and you don't miss any. Read everything carefully and do only what is asked below as you can alter your phone and render it useless. We are not responsible for any damage you may cause to the phone.
Install TWRP recovery
Copy the zip of Magisk and Lazy Flasher in the internal memory of your Redmi Note 5
Install ADB. A blue window will open and confirm all the options with 'and'.
Next you must install the ' minimal adb fastboot ' file and leave the command window that appears in the background.
Copy and paste the 'TWRP' and 'dummy' files into the 'minimal adb and fastboot' folder that has been created in your computer's program files. '
Now, we turn off our mobile and enter Fastboot mode, that is, turn on by pressing the volume down button and unlock at the same time until our device vibrates. Next, in the command window that we have left open in the background, we are going to write the following command without quotes and without bold ' fastboot flash recovery TWRP '. We delete TWRP and go to the 'minimal adb fastboot' folder and take the 'twrp' file to the command window. The file name will be placed automatically.
If it gives us the error that appears in the capture we have to put the following command, without quotes ' fastboot flash antirbpass DUMMY ' replacing 'DUMMY' with the file of the same name that we have in the 'minimal adb' folder.
Next we repeat the step of installing the recovery 'TWRP' by typing again 'fastboot flash recovery TWRP' and replacing TWRP with the file 'twrp' found in the folder ' minimal adb '. We press enter and that's it.
Then we write without quotes 'fastboot boot TWRP' replacing 'TWRP' with the file of the same name that we find in the 'minimal adb' folder. Our terminal will enter recovery mode.
Flash Magisk from recovery
Slide the arrow and click on 'Install'. We are going to 'flash' (that is, install) the Magisk ZIP file, which is the one that will grant us root privileges in our terminal. When the installation is finished, we press 'reboot system' and, when we restart the mobile (it should not take long, not a minute) we download the 'Root checker' application to see if we have done the root modification correctly. It is a free and very light application since it only weighs about 7 MB. We install it, open it and click on 'Verify root'
