Your smartphone with Windows 10 starts running very slowly? Is someone else going to use it and you want to erase all traces of your information and data? There are many reasons why you may be interested in resetting the phone to return it to the factory version "" that is, leaving it as it was fresh out of its box "", but it is important to carry out the process paying close attention to avoid making mistakes. We tell you how to restore your Windows 10 mobile to the factory version, step by step.
Backup copy
This step is absolutely essential. Restoring any device to its factory version implies completely (and irreversibly) erasing all the data and files that are stored on the phone. The information that you have saved on your microSD card will not be affected, but in any case we advise that you save all your files "" both on the mobile phone and on the card "" by saving a backup copy on your computer or in the cloud.
The fastest and easiest way to carry out this step is using the backup system of your Microsoft account. Go to the list of applications and access Settings> Backup safety. In this menu you will find different sections to select if you want to save files, text messages, chat history…
If you also want to make a backup copy of all application data and custom settings (such as your wallpaper or your Internet Explorer browser favorites, among others), go to Settings> Backup > Applications and settings. Activate the Backup configuration option and click on Back up now.
It is important that you are using a WiFi network and that you have the terminal connected to a power source throughout the process.
Reset the system to the factory version
Go to Settings> System (Windows 10)> About> Reset Your Phone. The terminal will ask you more than once to confirm this action and will remind you that the reset implies the loss of all data. Check before all your information has finished being backed up!
Windows 10 also offers the possibility of performing a "special reset", which returns the phone to factory settings but retains some personalized information, such as map data. All other user information will be deleted. This process can be done by accessing the phone hub and dialing ## 777 ## and the call button.
How to reset the phone if it does not respond
If your phone is on but it has been locked and does not respond, you will have to press the on / off button and the volume down button at the same time, keeping both pressed for 10-15 seconds, until the terminal vibrates. At the moment of vibration, release the on / off button but keep the volume down button pressed until an exclamation point appears on the screen.
At that moment, the key order to initiate the reset is: volume up, volume down, on / off button, volume down. The phone will vibrate again and begin to format.
How to reset the phone off
If you have problems accessing the menu and resetting your smartphone , use this procedure. Turn off the terminal, press and hold the volume down button and connect the phone to a power source. The screen with the exclamation mark will then be activated and you will be able to perform the step mentioned above, the combination of keys volume up, volume down, on / off button, volume down.
As in the previous case, you will notice the vibration of the phone and the reset will begin.
Recover your data
Once you have booted the phone to its factory version, you can restore the data from your backup by logging into your Microsoft account. If you saved files in a copy on your computer, you can transfer them back via USB.
