Before installing the beta
There are several things to keep in mind before installing a beta version.
- It is not recommended to install the version if you use that device as your main mobile. If you have a Huawei mobile as the main one and you want to download the beta on that device, think twice. The trial versions are not stable and can be very buggy. For example, incompatibility with applications, battery problems, options that are not available… Therefore, it is recommended to download this version on another compatible mobile that you do not use very often.
- Make a backup of your data. If you don't have another mobile and you want to download the beta, make a backup of your data, images and files so you don't lose anything
- You must have the SIM card in the phone. To receive updates on a Huawei mobile, the SIM must be active on this phone. After the update you can extract it.
- Not all registered users have access to the beta. Huawei is likely to limit the registration places. At least for the first few weeks of the beta. Therefore, registering in the program does not mean that you can install the version.
Steps to download and install the EMUI 11 beta.
These are the steps you must follow to install the EMUI 10 beta on a Huawei mobile.
Let's go with the steps to follow to download and install the EMUI 11 beta. First, we have to register for the Huawei beta program. The company has a specific app for registering trial versions. This app, called 'Beta user tests' can be downloaded for free in the App Gallery or through the internet. To register we only need to enter our Huawei ID. If you don't have a Huawei account, you can create one from the app itself and then log in.
When the beta is available, Huawei will activate a notice on the main page of the app, so we just have to click on the image and it will take us to the registration. You can also access it from the 'Personal' option and then clicking on 'Join the project'. The available versions will appear below. Click on 'Available projects', select the one for EMUI 11 and finally click on 'Register'.
When Huawei accepts your request, a new update will appear in the system settings. To update, go to Settings> System & updates> Software update. Wait for the new version to install.
How to exit the EMUI 11 beta
Do you want to stop receiving EMUI 11 beta updates? Fortunately, Huawei makes it very easy to exit the EMUI 11 beta and receive the stable version of EMUI 10. We just have to go back to the app and follow the same steps we did to register for the project. You will see a button that says 'Sign out'. Huawei will confirm to you within 48 hours that you are no longer part of the program and you can return to the previous version. Here are the steps to go back to a previous version of your Huawei mobile.
I have installed EMUI 11, but it still has Android 10
Have you checked that the EMUI 11 beta has Android 10? It is normal, the new version of Huawei's interface is not based on Android 11, but on Android 10. That is, the same version is maintained, but EMUI improves with some of the news that Google launched along with the new version of the operating system. At the moment we do not know if Huawei will launch a version with Android 11 or will stay with Android 10.
