Do you want to put passwords for some of the applications you use on your iPhone? Although at the moment it cannot be done natively, that is, we cannot go to the app in question and assign it a key, if it is, we can use a trick to achieve it. No need to jailbreak or anything like that. It is possible thanks to a function that came with iOS 12, the Time of Use.
The current version of Apple's operating system released the possibility of knowing how much time we spend on each application. With the option to also restrict the time we use it with a password. Therefore, this time limit for daily use of an app can be used to put a password to the applications on the iPhone in a simple way. Next, we explain all the steps you have to take.
- Go on your iPhone to the Settings, Usage time section.
- Click on the Use code option for “Time of use”.
- Enter the password you want to use to block apps.
- Once you have entered the code, click on iPhone located at the top.
- At the bottom you will see the apps you use the most, if you click on Show more, all of them will appear.
- Select the app you want to set a password for and click Add limit below.
- You can select all the apps that you want to lock with a password by clicking on Edit apps.
- Finally, set a time limit of only 1 minute and click on add.
From that moment, when you want to enter the app, a message will be displayed indicating that you have reached the time limit. If you want to enter you will have to click on Request more time and enter the password that you have previously defined. Next, you need to choose how long your iPhone app will be without a password. It is true that it is a somewhat far-fetched option. It would be much better if it was implemented natively. In any case, we hope the company will add it at some point.
