The vast majority of Xiaomi mobiles that we can acquire today in official stores carry the MIUI personalization layer. This manufacturer layer adds numerous functionalities with which to enrich the user experience, options that in pure Android we would not find unless we installed third-party applications downloaded from the Google Play Store. One of the exclusive advantages of MIUI is that the Xiaomi user can hide, to his liking, the applications he wants so that they are not visible to anyone who may have access to your mobile.
Whatever the reason, in MIUI you can put the applications that you do not want to show to a safe place. As you already know, all the applications in MIUI are visible outside on the desktop in the manner of iOS, so it is good for you to know how to hide those that you should not have in sight. In pure Android at least we have them located inside the application drawer but in MIUIā¦ everything is in sight!
Hide applications in your Xiaomi mobile step by step
- The first thing we have to do to hide the applications is to enter the terminal settings and go to the ' Application lock ' section within 'Application settings'.
- On this screen, we are going to create a pattern to be able to later access the applications that we hide. Once the pattern is placed twice, click on 'Next' and continue.
- Next, we advise you to add your IM account to be able to restore the pattern in case you forget it.
- Then we can activate the unlocking of fingerprint applications or click on 'cancel', as you like.
- On the screen below we look at the gear icon and press. On the screen that appears, we go down until 'Hidden applications' appear. We flip the switch and read the tutorial carefully.
- Later, we are going to choose the applications that we want to remain hidden from the screen of our mobile, for example, WhatsApp. A warning sign will appear informing you that the application icon will not be shown on the screen again. We give screen back.
- Now, we are going to go to the screen of our mobile and we are going to make an up and down gesture with our fingers as if we were zooming in on a photo. If we do it correctly, a screen will appear where we will have to enter the pattern that we configured at the beginning of the tutorial or our fingerprint, if we configured it before.
- When inserting the pattern, we will see all the applications that we have hidden. To enter one, click on it and then reinsert the security pattern. As you can see, MIUI takes user security very seriously by having to enter the security pattern up to two times. We would like them to make things a little easier, but I suppose that any security mechanism is little.
We remind you that you can enter, again, on the 'Application Lock' screen to remove the lock, add a lock to other new applications that you install and send all the ones you want to the hidden folder by clicking on the gear icon. The process can be a bit arduous but if you follow the tutorial step by step you will have no problem.
