Apple has launched the first public beta of iOS 13 for iPhone or iPad devices. Its launch was scheduled for the month of July, but it has finally been possible to advance a few days. Since it is a test version, it is normal that this first beta arrives full of problems and errors. Therefore, we recommend that if you install it, you do it on an iPhone that you do not usually use in your day to day life and in which you do not have important data or files.
Before installing the iOS 13 beta, keep in mind that it is only supported by the following iPhone or iPad models:
- iPhone 6s
- iPhone 6s Plus
- iPhone 7
- iPhone 7 Plus
- iPhone 8
- iPhone 8 Plus
- iPhone X
- iPhone Xs
- iPhone Xs Max
- iPhone Xr
- iPhone SE
- iPad Pro 11 ″
- iPad Pro 12.9 ″ (2015, 2017, 2018)
- iPad Pro 10.5 ″
- iPad Pro 9.7 ″
- iPad 6 (2018)
- iPad 5 (2017)
- iPad mini 5 (2019)
- iPad mini 4
- iPad Air 3 (2019)
- iPad Air 2
Once you verify that your iPhone or iPad is compatible with the installation, you only have to sign up for Apple's public beta program, This allows users to access the software before it is released in a stable way for all users. To register for Apple's public beta program, go to this website and click on Sign Up. Next, it will ask you for the username and password you use in the App Store, your Apple ID.
Once you have signed up, the next thing you have to do is download a profile necessary for Apple to give you access to the iOS 13 beta. Download it and install it on your iPhone. With the profile downloaded and installed, restart the iPhone. Once you have restarted, you only have to enter the Settings, General, Software update section to download the public beta of iOS 13 and install it on your terminal. From here you just have to have a little patience and wait for the system to finish installing completely on your iPhone. This process can take a few minutes. We recommend that you wait until it's over and don't touch anything while it is.
As we always tell you before carrying out a software update, avoid installing it in places with an open and free WiFi connection. Wait to get home and do the installation with your own WiFi connection. Likewise, do not do it with your data connection. Also, try to have your iPhone on more than half of the battery. If not, wait to fully load it to proceed with the installation of iOS 13. Finally, do not forget to make a backup copy of all the data on the device. Save those important files that you don't want to lose. Do not forget that, although public, it is a beta, so it is normal that errors and problems appear that can put the mobile and its content at risk.
What's new in iOS 13
One of the most anticipated novelties of iOS 13 is the arrival of dark mode. Finally, the Cupertino phones will be able to use this mode that has been available on Android for some time. We can activate it both from the Control Center and from the Settings. Its main function is to protect our eyes in low light situations, as well as to consume less energy in those models with OLED screen, such as the iPhone X or XS Max.
This is one of the main novelties, but there is more:
- App redesign
- New privacy measures
- More Animoji customization
- News in Messages (we can put a name and profile photo for all the people we talk to see)
- Camera app improvements
- More functions for AirPods (it is now possible to pair two pairs of AirPods so that two users listen to the same music or series).
- Apple Maps is updated with improvements
The final version of iOS 13 is expected to arrive in the fall, very close to the launch of the company's new iPhones.
