- Part 1. Know the consumption of data.
- Part 2. Know the detailed data consumption of each application.
The iOS operating system in its version of iOS 7 offers the possibility of consulting and reviewing in detail the consumption of mobile data on a smartphone from the iPhone range. This information allows us to know not only the data consumption during a certain period, but also the exact number of megabytes consumed by each application on our mobile. Since this data is very useful to control data consumption as much as possible, this time we are going to learn in detail how to manage the use of mobile data on an iPhone.
The tutorial that we show below is divided into two parts: a part in which we will learn to quickly consult the data consumption of our iPhone, and another part in which we will learn to know the exact data consumption of each application installed in our mobile.
How to manage mobile data usage on an iPhone
Part 1. Know the consumption of data.
The first part of this tutorial is intended for users who are beginning to take their first steps on the iOS operating system. It is a procedure that allows us to know the megabytes consumed from our mobile data rate during a certain period of time, and for this we simply must follow these steps:
- We enter the Settings application of our iPhone.
- Click on the option " Mobile data ".
- We scroll the screen down and we will see a section called " Use of mobile data ". In this list we can consult both the data consumed during the current billing period (under the name of " Current period ") and the data consumed abroad (under the name " Current roaming period ").
Part 2. Know the detailed data consumption of each application.
Once we know the data consumption of our mobile, the next thing that we can consult is the detailed consumption of megabytes of each application. To do this, we follow these steps:
- We enter the Settings application again.
- Click on the " Mobile data " section.
- We scroll the page down, and in the " Use mobile data for: " section we will see the detailed data consumption of each of the applications installed on our mobile. In the event that we find an application that consumes too much data, we can deactivate it so that it never uses the data rate of our mobile phone again. To do this, we simply have to click on the white button that appears on one side of each of the applications in this list.
- In addition to this, if we look at the end of the list we will see that an option appears with the name of " System services ". If we click on it we will access a new screen where we can know the data consumption of each of the options of our iPhone, see for example the option of " Internet Sharing ", the "Home screen " or the " Share on Twitter “. This section is especially useful when we notice excessive mobile data consumption in our terminal, since it allows us to know the option responsible for the data consumption having skyrocketed from one day to the next.
