Although Xiaomi phones have a good pace when it comes to updates, it may be the case that MIUI does not detect any updates in the system. This has been the case with MIUI 10 and a good part of the Xiaomi catalog as far as the low range is concerned. Luckily, we can force an update on Xiaomi easily and without opening the bootloader . Days ago we showed you how to hide applications on a Xiaomi mobile and several tricks to speed up a slow Xiaomi mobile. Today we will teach you to force an update on Xiaomi in a simple way.
How to install an MIUI update manually on Xiaomi
Xiaomi is one of the few brands that supports the installation of firmware without resorting to third-party programs or root , only through the system options.
To do this, the first thing we will have to do is check the version of MIUI that our mobile has to download the correct version (global ROM, European ROM, Chinese ROM, etc.). In this article on how to identify a fake Xiaomi ROM we explain how to proceed step by step.
Once we are sure that our mobile has a Global, European or Chinese ROM, the next logical step will be to look for the update package that we want to install on our Xiaomi mobile. We can do it from the MIUI page itself in English.
Once we have downloaded the package in question on our mobile, we will have to move the ZIP file to the downloaded_rom folder inside the internal memory. If it does not exist, we will have to create it ourselves with the same name as detailed here.
Finally we will go to the Settings application; specifically to the About device and System update section. Within the Updater, we will click on the three points in the upper right corner and we will choose the option to Select update package.
Now we just have to choose the previously downloaded package and the system will update automatically after verifying that it is an original package.
How to update MIUI if the Xiaomi mobile has the bootloader open
In case our mobile has the bootloader open, the way to proceed will be well destined to the previous one.
To install a ROM of a certain update in Xiaomi, the first thing we will have to do is download the ROM in question in Fastboot format through the following link.
Next, we will enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlocking in the Developer Settings of the mobile. To activate the Programmer Options, we must press several times on MIUI Version in the MIUI Settings.
The next step to install the ROM will be, how could it be otherwise, download Mi Flash, Xiaomi's tool to install ROMs through Fastboot. In this link we can download the program for Windows.
Xiaomi Fastboot Mode
With everything ready, we will restart the mobile in Fastboot mode by pressing Volume + and Power at the same time until a menu like the one we can see just above this paragraph appears.
Once we have selected Fastboot in the Xiaomi Recovery, we will connect the mobile to the computer and open the My Flash tool, but not before unzipping the previously downloaded ROM to copy the path and add it to the program, as you can see in the image lower.
Finally, we will click on Refresh and Flash and the ROM will automatically be installed on our Xiaomi mobile.
