Did you know that if you buy an application from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store and you don't like it, it can be returned? There are many users who think that, once paid, there is no going back. And the truth is that both application stores offer an option to return the application if we finally do not like it. It is a very interesting option, since it will allow us to test an application to see if it was really what we were looking for.
Maybe on Android less, but in the iOS App Store we have applications with quite high prices. Some of the photo, video or productivity editing apps are around 20 euros or more. So it is worth knowing that we can buy them and, if they do not have that specific functionality that we are looking for, return them and pay us the money. Let's see how it is done in each of the stores.
How to return an application on Android
We start with the Google application store. The first thing to know is that the Play Store allows you to return an application, but only within two hours after its purchase. That is, if you are going to pay for an app in the Play Store, make sure you have time to test it right away to see if it is what you were looking for. After this period of time, the return is also possible, but recovering our money will be much more complicated.
If we are within the two hour period, the return is really simple. We will only have to enter the section "My applications" within the Play Store. We look for the application we want to return and we will see the option "Get a refund. " We click on it and confirm the operation. And we have it, the return has been made and we have requested a refund. Of course, the application will be uninstalled from the device.
If we have exceeded two hours we will have to enter the Play Store and in the application look for the option "Report a problem". From the options we have, we will select “Claim a refund”. However, in this case the return will not be automatic and we will have to explain to Google why we want to return the application. Thus, the decision to pay us will be dictated by Google itself.
How to return an application in iOS
In the case of Apple devices, the App Store offers us a return period of 14 days. Of course, once that period has expired, there will be no way to recover the amount paid for that application. In addition, the process is somewhat more complicated, since we will have to do it from Apple's "Report a problem" website.
When entering the website , it asks us for the Apple ID with which we have made the purchase. We put the identifier and password of it. Of course, it should be the one we are using on our iPhone or iPad. Also, if we have double factor identification activated, we will have to write the code that will reach the device.
Upon entering, we will see a list of all the applications, movies, music or books that we have purchased in the App Store or in the iTunes Store with our Apple ID. We will search for the application that we want to return and select “Point”. Be careful, we can also do it with in-app purchases.
Once clicked, Apple will ask us to explain the reason for the return. Rest assured, it will not be necessary to have a strong justification for them to accept the return. We can simply put that we have bought it by mistake or something similar. Apple will refund the amount of the purchase to us on the card associated with our ID within five to seven business days.
Although the deadline that Apple gives to return an application is quite long, we should not abuse this system. In other words, Apple controls that the return system is not abused, so if we buy and return systematically, there may come a time when we are denied the return.
