If you have in your possession a Xiaomi phone with MIUI customization layer (because there are exceptions, as in the Mi A1 and Mi A2 that carry pure Android) you will have been able to verify that it has applications pre-installed in the system, which we also do not use and that, in some cases, we don't even know what they do there. And we are not getting into conspiracy of oriental espionage: it is well known that all these pre-installed tools, which are called 'bloatware', end up reducing the autonomy and performance of our terminal. And worst of all, they cannot be uninstalled using the traditional method, you have to figure out how to find alternative methods that work, do not pose a danger to the terminal and can be done with a single click.
And does this method exist? Yes, it exists, and if done correctly it shouldn't cause any problem in your terminal. The only thing you need to remove the applications from the MIUI system is your Xiaomi terminal, its microUSB or USB Type C cable, a computer with Java installed (we leave the link for you to download and install) and a tool called Xiaomi ABD FastBoot Tools that you can download from this page. These are the steps, one by one, that we are going to need to get rid of all the MIUI applications that we do not want.
A warning before starting the tutorial: we are not responsible if your mobile suffers any damage. Personally, I have done this tutorial to remove factory apps by following the steps below and have not had any problems.
How to uninstall system applications on a Xiaomi mobile
The first thing we are going to do is activate the development options. To do this, we enter the phone settings, we enter 'About the phone' and in ' MIUI Version ' we press seven times in a row until the notice that the development options are activated appears.
Then we go back and in the 'Additional Settings' we press and we go to 'Developer options'. On this screen we go to the ' USB debugging ' section and activate the switch.
Now we connect our device to the computer and open the Xiaomi ADB FastBoot Tools that we previously downloaded. If everything goes well, it should detect your mobile (do not forget to look on the mobile and accept the USB debugging that will appear in the form of a pop-up) and a window will appear with a series of applications.
Apparently and according to the tool itself, all the applications that appear in the list can be uninstalled without any problem. However, in an HTC thread, one of the users recommends uninstalling only the following.
- Analytics
- App Vault
- Backup
- Browser
- Games
- Google Duo
- Google Play movies
- Google play music
- Joyose
- My App stor
- My Cloud
- My Credit
- My Drop
- My Pay
- My Recycle
- Miui daemon
- MyWebView
- MSA
- Notes
- PAI
- PartnerBookmarks
- Quick Apps
- Quick Ball
- Extra SMS
- Translation Service
- Uniplay Service
- VsimCore
- Yellow pages
- Xiaomi Service Framework
- Xiaomi SIM Activate Service
When we have all the applications selected, click on 'Uninstall' and the tool will begin to uninstall all of them, without the need for the mobile to enter FastBoot or recovery mode. When the procedure is finished, we recommend that you restart your mobile so that the system stabilizes properly.
As you can see in the previous screenshot, in the 'Reinstaller' tab you can reverse some of the uninstallations that you have carried out. You will only have to choose the applications that you need to have again and that's it, exactly as in the previous process.
