Surely there are phrases or words that you always use on your iPhone as a tagline. For example, "How are you doing?", "Good morning", "Good night" or the usual "hehehehe", are the most normal when we talk on WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and other similar apps. Although it is true that it does not take anything to write these words, surely you would spend even less time using a keyboard shortcut.
iOS allows you to create as many shortcuts as you want, so that instead of having to write "good morning" just put bd and the whole word will automatically appear. Setting it up is very simple, and it's something you should do if you want to write well, but don't waste too much time when talking to someone or writing emails.
Set keyboard shortcuts on iOS
To configure the keyboard shortcuts on your iPhone or iPad, you just have to enter the "Settings", "General" section and go to the "Keyboard" section to select the "Text Substitution" option. When you're inside, click on the "+" option that appears in the upper right and type the following:
- In sentence: the phrase you want to write, for example "Good morning".
- Quick function: Here you will have to add the key that will activate the shortcut, for example "bd".
Once you have it ready, select "Save". You can repeat this process as many times as you want. That is, iOS does not limit keyboard shortcuts. The system will allow you to use hundreds of phrases, the ones you use the most, with their hundreds of keys and then not have to write the complete text, just a couple of letters. If you doubt about which phrases or words to put, it is best to take a look at your most recent conversations and analyze the texts. Only then will you be able to see those long words or phrases that you use most often and then add keyboard shortcuts.
As a suggestion, a smart option is to create shortcuts for your mobile phone or email, which in the end are two of the things that you probably comment the most in your conversations. You can configure "@ 2" to replace it with your email or "phone" to put your mobile number, "fb" to write the link to your Facebook profile or "insg" to do the same with Instagram.
