Since 2015 iPhone users (as of iPhone 6S) can take much more realistic photos with the Live Photos function. These are images that take on movement, giving our captures a more fun and emotional appearance. With Live Photos, your iPhone records what happens 1.5 seconds before and after taking the photo. In this way, you will be able to enjoy more than a regular photo: you will be able to capture a moment in time with movement and sound.
In addition, with the arrival of iOS 13 this function has gone one step further. Now it is also possible to create a video from a Live Photo. Here's how to make one and then how to transform it into video.
How to take a Live Photo
Taking a Live Photo with your iPhone is very simple. If you haven't done any yet, or you don't have much idea how to do it, the first thing to do is open the Camera app and make sure it's in photo mode. In other words, among the different functions that appear just below the image to be captured (slow motion, portrait, video…) is the Photo option. Now, look at the rounded icon at the top of the screen. It's the Live Photo icon. When you activate it, it will go from white to yellow, which will mean that you are ready to take your moving photo.
When taking a moving photo, hold the device firmly and press the shutter button. When you check how it has been inside your images, you will see that the image does not stay static but moves for a few moments. You already know that whenever you want you can activate or deactivate this option from the same rounded icon. Just running your finger over it. You know, yellow on, white off.
How to create a video from a Live Photo
iOS 13 has included the ability to create a video based on a Live Photo. The goal is to have the moving image, but also to be able to keep it as video. A click that lasts approximately 3 or 4 seconds and allows us to see the image in greater detail, in addition to listening to it. Don't worry, because when you create the video, the Live Photo is still maintained, that is, it is not removed from the Camera app. In the end we will have both, the moving photo and the video created. To create one you just have to follow the following steps:
Step 1:
Enter the Photos application of your iPhone or iPad already updated to iOS 13 or iPadOS.
Step 2:
Select the Live Photo that you want to convert into a video and click on the share button, located at the bottom left. It's the square-shaped icon with an up arrow.
Step 3:
Once you have pressed this button, scroll to the bottom until you find the option to save as video. Click here to start creating your video.
Keep in mind that if you have taken several captures in a row you can get a continuous video of all of them. To do this, click on Select, in the upper right, mark all of them and follow the same steps.
In the following video you can see several examples of Live Photo:
As you can see, it is something very easy to do and simple, which will allow you to give more creativity and fun to your captures in a few seconds. It will even save you time, since there are times when we need to take a photo but also a video at the same time, and we don't have too much time to go around doing one thing and then another. With this function we will have video and photo at the same time.
