Gone are the days when personalization of the mobile phone in the matter of ringtones offered its maximum depth in a catalog of preloaded melodies. Today the options are very complete, and if we talk about the Samsung Galaxy S4, the matter gains in importance. This Samsung team offers a wide range of notification means, each one available in several customization options, so if the user gets fully into putting everything to their liking, it is more than likely that there are not two units in the range high of the South Korean equal. Today we will take a look at how we can put the Samsung Galaxy S4 to our liking when it comes to its tones and notifications.
To begin with, we have to distinguish three ways to make the Samsung Galaxy S4notify us of calls, messages or status updates of any of the services that we can integrate into the phone: audio tones, vibration and LED indicator. To access the configuration palette, we must first enter the settings menu, available by displaying the notification curtain and clicking on the gear icon on the top right or by clicking on the capacitive button on the left the home key, then selecting the settings option. Once there, click on the second tab of the upper menu ("My device"), where we will find "LED Indicator" and "Sound". Let's focus on that second option to begin with. The first section within «Sound» offers us the possibility of giving a different parameter to the four types of audio alert emitted by the Samsung Galaxy S4: multimedia (music, sound from a video clip, video games and other types of audio), phone melody on incoming calls, notifications and system (referring to the sounds the phone makes when we navigate through the terminal options).
Once this is done, we can activate or deactivate certain sounds emitted by the Samsung Galaxy S4, for example, when we make calls, press icons or keys or lock and unlock the phone. We can also choose custom default ringtones and message / notification. Even if we go to the memory of the Samsung Galaxy S4audio clips captured by us, we could use them to sound when we receive incoming calls or when we have alerts. The notifications and ringtones that we choose here will be, as we say, those defined by default. If we want any number in our phonebook to have its own assigned audio, just go to the contacts application, select the card linked to the person we are interested in and select, from where it says "Melody", the tone we want it to emit the Samsung Galaxy S4 when that contact calls us. Likewise, the applications that use sound for their notifications can have different clips, which we can customize from the settings menu of each app.
After that, let's move on to customizing the vibrations. We continue in the "Sound" section in "My device" in "Settings". First, we could define the intensity of the vibration, discriminating between that produced by incoming calls, notifications or as a haptic response when using the virtual keyboard of the Samsung Galaxy S4. Once configured, we always have the option, from the "Sound" menu itself, of activating or deactivating the vibration that someone calls us, without affecting the other two parameters described. Finally, in the "Vibrations" submenu, the system allows the user to define the frequency and rhythm of the vibration from six options (Basic, Heartbeat, Jinglebell, Ticktock, Waltz and Ziz-zig-zig).
To close the section on sound and vibration, it is essential to point out that among the special functions of the Samsung Galaxy S4 is the AdaptSound application, a utility that calibrates the sound in calls or in multimedia playback to the user's needs. After following a short configuration process, AdaptSound will identify the situations in which the user finds himself while talking on the phone or listening to music to make the system itself modify some audio parameters to each circumstance.
Lastly, let's talk about LED notifications. From the menu that we have in "Device" we find the section that offers us the customization of this section. There are four options available: "Charging" (while the Samsung Galaxy S4 is powered from the mains, a red LED lights up indicating that the process is running, turning green when the task is completed), "Low battery" (the same red LED flashes when the battery level drops, in principle, up to fifteen percent), "Notifications" (when you have missed calls, messages without consulting or pending notifications, a blue LED flashes to indicate new information) and "Voice recording" (same as the previous one, but only in case we use the recorder installed in the Samsung Galaxy S4). All these options can be activated or deactivated at will, with which we have the possibility of accessing the information that only interests us.
Of course, and as a complement, all this has to be taken into account not only for customization criteria, but also for efficiency. And it is that in situations in which we begin to be at a lower battery level than desirable, the reconfiguration of all this can make us gain important minutes of autonomy, especially when we remove sounds, vibrations or LED light emissions in cases where that are not strictly necessary.
