Many years have passed since we started carrying mobile phones in our pockets. At some point along the way, the possibility of making a melody or tone to the user's taste when called or sent SMS messages became especially popular. The most nostalgic will even remember the function of the Nokia 3210 with which we could compose our own themes to use in case of receiving calls. Many years later, we can continue to customize these sections. If in 1999 that device was one of the references of the Finnish, today it is theNokia Lumia 920, with which we can use a multitude of melodies and tunes to warn us when they call us or receive notifications of any kind.
To be able to personalize this section in the latest flagship of the European firm, we will have to go to the Settings section of the Nokia Lumia 920. We will find it in the list of applications and functions of the phone, being exposed when, from the main view, we slide the screen to the left. The aforementioned list is in alphabetical order, so we will soon find access to the configuration. Once there, we verify that the first option available is precisely the one dedicated to tones and sounds. Click on that section and access the customization.
The first thing we can modify is if we want the tones to be heard or not, that is, if we want to deactivate or activate the silent mode of the system. Likewise, we could also combine this with the vibration of the device. After this, we could select our ringtone. Windows Phone equips a catalog of different types of parts, something that is completed with the options proposed by Nokia. We could listen to a preview of each melody to decide by clicking on the small play button to the left of each title. Once we have opted for one, just click on it so that it is automatically selected. Likewise, we can also repeat the operation to configure SMS or instant message tones, voicemail or email notification.
However, in addition to the tones that come preloaded in the operating system and in the Nokia Lumia 920 itself, we would have the possibility of obtaining more melodies, either from the Microsoft store or through sound cuts that we have in our library of Audio. For the latter, we would have to connect the Nokia Lumia 920 to our PC and look in the computer's File Explorer for the Tones folder, within the phone's memory. Once there, we just have to locate the audio tracks that we have on our PC and copy them into that folder. Parts cannot be larger than 30MBweight or be protected by DRM if we want to use them. Once transferred, we disconnect the phone and repeat the steps we have described to customize the tones in the Nokia Lumia 920. Now the new songs will appear in the list, so that we can use them to sound when they call us.
It is also possible that we use different tones depending on the contacts that call us. In order to customize the melody that sounds with each one, we only have to go to the Contacts section, select the user to whom we want to assign a specific piece and click on the edit icon "" which shows a small pencil in the lower area of the screen"". After this, we select where it says "+ tone" and, again, the list of available melodies will be displayed. Once the one we want to identify with that contact has been chosen, it will remain in the user settings on our Nokia Lumia 920. Thus, the next time we receive a call from you, we can hear the music that we have placed on it.
