The Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 is a perfect example of the premium mid-range. A device with Samsung Galaxy S6 design and a set of powerful features, but with a more affordable price of 430 euros. And one of the additions that could not be missing in a premium model is the inclusion of a fingerprint reader. Through this tool we can unlock the phone screen, verify our Samsung account or use it to enter websites. We tell you how to register your fingerprint on the Samsung Galaxy A5 2016.
The fingerprint reader is one of the first options you will see when you start using the Samsung Galaxy A5 2016. From here you can register your fingerprint to unlock the phone, but if for any reason you have skipped this step, we will explain how the fingerprint is registered from scratch. The first thing to do is go to the "Settings" panel of the phone. Either within the app panel of the "Menu" or from the nut-shaped icon of the notification panel. Once there, we look for the option "Lock screen and security".
The “Fingerprints” submenu appears just below the Security panel. If we have not yet added a fingerprint, click on "Add fingerprint". What we have to do now is put our finger on the start button for several times. It is recommended to try to place your finger in all possible positions so that the reader captures us better. Once we have reached 100% on the screen, we will have to enter an alternative password in case the reader fails us. This password must be at least six characters, including a number and a letter.
After performing this step, we are shown a message with the option to establish our fingerprint as the security method to unlock the phone. To do this, click on the "Define" button. From now on, every time we want to unlock the Samsung Galaxy A5 2016, it will be enough to put our finger on the home button on the smartphone's lock screen.
Now, back to the fingerprint screen we have the option to use our fingerprint for two more actions. On the one hand, we can verify our identity in the Samsung account to make purchases in the firm's store. To do this, the “Verify Samsung Account” option is activated and the account password is confirmed on the pop-up screen. Now, every time we want to buy an app or custom theme, just put our finger on the reader.
The other option is to log into websites with our fingerprint. Keep in mind that this feature only works through Samsung's "Internet" browser. Once we activate "Start web session", we have to open the Internet app and go to a website where we have to log in. We performed the test with Wordpress, but in principle there are numerous sites that can also function as Facebook, Twitter (if you do not use the apps), pages of online stores, etc. By the way, Samsung advises that some websites may not be compatible.
After entering our credentials we accept and wait for a pop-up window to appear with the message we see above. We mark the option "Login with your fingerprints" and then "Remember". From now on, every time we enter that website a message will appear at the bottom of the screen for us to use our fingerprint.
In addition to these features, the fingerprint reader of the Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 will experience a new push as soon as this premium mid-range smartphone is updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow (something that should arrive over the next few months). One of the great novelties of this system is the possibility for apps to work natively with the fingerprint reader. Some of the features that we can take advantage of: create a private photo gallery with Focus, enter Telegram or use a password manager.
