Sometimes we can go with the tablet or laptop without having access to a Wi-Fi point, but we need to access the Internet from one of these computers. In the event that we are users of the Samsung Galaxy S3, it is possible to have a gateway to the network of networks, as long as the 3G connection accompanies. For that, it is enough to start the relevant function in the terminal, which makes us link the Samsung Galaxy S3 from three ways with the equipment that is going to receive the connection. Today we tell step by step how to make it possible.
To begin, we must go to the terminal settings menu. This is accessible from several points, but we like to arrive from the notification curtain. In the upper right area you can detect its presence in the form of a small gear wheel. Once we click on it, in the first section we will find several options related to wireless connections. We are interested in selecting in the More settings section.
Once inside, we will see a new options panel. The first section focuses on those that interest us. Specifically, a section that appears as Wi-Fi Zone and USB modem. That is where the different ways that Android 4.1 offers us through the Samsung Galaxy S3 are hidden to be able to turn the phone into an access point so that other equipment can take advantage of the mobile's 3G connection. And as we will verify, there are three options, we have already mentioned it, for this. Specifically, we will recognize them, after clicking on that link, as Wi-Fi Zone, USB Modem and Bluetooth Modem.
In this guide we will focus on the first one. The other two routes are simplified and more accessible variations of the one we are going to develop, although we will give some notes at the end of the article so that you have no doubts about it. Well, let's click on Wi-Fi Zone, either by selecting the link area or by switching the virtual spring on the right. We will see that a message like the following appears:
There is no need to fear. What this notice means is that the Wi-Fi sensor of the Samsung Galaxy S3 will stop being in reception mode "" although even so, it always keeps collecting and sending data "" to become a signal transmitter. Basically, the device goes from being a platform that displays information from the network to being a terminal from which that information starts. So, click on OK to see this other:
The Samsung Galaxy S3 will have gone into Hotsport mode, so that it has generated a Wi-Fi zone around it. When we unfold the notification curtain, the information that can be seen in the upper image that accompanies these lines will appear. We just have to click on the section Wi-Fi Zone or active USB modem so that we can change the parameters of the network that we have just generated.
The default options of the network that is created to share the 3G connection from the Samsung Galaxy S3 assign a predefined name, and it can be protected with a password assigned by the system itself. The process can also be done by leaving the network open and unprotected, but it is the least recommended. That is why whenever we activate this option, we customize the parameters to our liking, so that we avoid unpleasant surprises as much as possible. To do this, we must click on the Configure button.
As we can see, from here we can access several configurable options. Thus, we would have in our hand the choice of a new name for our connection (Network SSID), the selection that it remains hidden as a device, the type of encryption and the password that would give access to it. In a few seconds, we may have our own connection ready from the Samsung Galaxy S3. Next, we save the changes and just search for the network generated from another terminal with Wi-Fi connection :
We all know this point. Once we select the network that we have created, we only have to enter the password that has previously been determined to be able to access our connection from the Samsung Galaxy S3, and from that moment, we can start browsing on the computer or tablet feeding ourselves from the phone's 3G network.
Something very important to take into consideration when resorting to this is that the amount of data consumed in traffic when we navigate from the phone is not the same as when we do it from a computer. Web pages and other online services are optimized differently depending on whether they are being accessed from a mobile platform or from a laptop or desktop.
We want to highlight this because it is very likely that the quota contracted with your operator reflects a notable peak of activity if you use this function, with the consequent risks in the contracted franchise or, in case we do not have a type of service that does not require additional expense after having exceeded the maximum allowed, a scare on the bill.
Let's finish by giving some simple notes for the two additional tracks. On the one hand, if we connect the Samsung Galaxy S3 via USB to a compatible device, simply select the USB Modem option from the section described above and the computer or tablet will be able to automatically detect the connection point. It has no mystery. In the same way, when activating the equivalent option through a Bluetooth wireless port, as long as the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the receiving equipment are paired, the phone will immediately behave as the sender of the data signal that the computer, tablet or other mobile will take as an access point for online data traffic.
