EMUI is one of the few customization layers that allow you to change the Android font without root. The layer even has an application dedicated to themes that allows us to change the aesthetics of the system to our liking. Unfortunately, the application does not allow adding new fonts and fonts on Huawei and Honor mobiles. For this we are forced to resort to third-party applications. A few days ago we showed you how to clear the cache in EMUI. This time we will teach you to change the font in Huawei in a simple way.

Since the steps that we will detail below are applicable to any version of EMUI, the tutorial is compatible with all mobile phones of the Chinese brand. P9 Lite, P10, P8, Y5, Y6 2018, Y7, Y9, Mate 10 Lite, Mate 20 Lite, Mate 20, Mate 10, P30, Huawei P20, P20 Lite, P20 Pro, P8 Lite 2017, P30 Lite, P Smart and P Smart Plus, among others.

Themes for Huawei, the application that allows us to change the font in Huawei

Changing the font on a Huawei mobile is something that can be easily done using third-party applications. There are many applications in the Google store, but the one that has worked best for us is Themes for Huawei, which we can download through this link.

Once we have installed it (normally it is installed under the name of Themes Manager), we will open it and grant it the necessary permissions to modify the appearance of the system. Within the application we will go to the Sources section and select any of the sources that we want to install on the system and apply later. To download a font, all you have to do is click on the font in question and click Get this font.

The next step to apply the font on the mobile will depend on whether we have the Themes application installed by default in the system. Otherwise, we will have to go to the Settings application; specifically to the Main screen and wallpaper section. In the Themes option we can access the application in case it is not installed by default as an independent application. Within this we will give to My themes and then to the font that we have just installed. We will only have to click Apply so that the font is applied correctly on the computer.

When we have applied the font change correctly, restarting the system is the best way to avoid conflicts with the applications that are open. It should be noted, however, that some parts of the system will not vary for functional reasons. It is also very important to select large and legible fonts, otherwise they will most likely generate confusion due to the font or size of the fonts.

How to go back to the default Huawei font

If we want to return to the font that EMUI integrates by default, we will not be able to do it in the traditional way, at least from versions equal to or higher than EMUI 9. For this we will have to download the system letter again, which generally corresponds to the Roboto font.

In this case, the process is as simple as accessing the Themes for Huawei application and clicking on Default font in the Fonts section. Once we have downloaded it, we will only have to follow the process explained above using the Android settings or through the Themes application. We can also reset the phone settings, although it is a more complex process for a long time.
