How to change the font of your Samsung mobile
To change the font on your mobile there are different alternatives, but let's start using the options offered by the system.
To do this, go to Settings and scroll to Display >> Font size and style, as you can see in the image:
Once you carry out these steps, you will find a new screen that shows what the text looks like with the available mobile fonts. So in this section you will be able to try some combinations using some of the three options: "Font Type", "Bold Font" and "Font Size".
Simply select "Font Type" to see the options available on your device, which may vary by Samsung model. In general, you will find the default font, SamsungOne and Gothic Bold. Once you select one of them, you can adjust the size with the slider, and see the preview in the box above.
This is the basic option to change the font on your Samsung mobile, but you can extend the possibilities much more by downloading new fonts, as we show you below.
How to download new fonts from the Galaxy Store
If you want to add new fonts, you just have to use the option «Font type» as we saw in the previous step. In addition to showing the fonts available on the mobile, it gives the option to "Download fonts". And if you select that option, it will direct you directly to the Galaxy Store with all the sources available for your Samsung mobile.
In this section you will find both free and paid fonts. If you just want to take a look at the free options, you will have to scroll to "Top Free". Each font has all the options you need to test it, download a trial version, or directly download it to your mobile.
If you choose "See sample" it will only show you what a test text looks like, but if you choose "Test" you will see in a simulation how the text looks in a WhatsApp-style message.
An important detail: take a look at the ratings and user reviews before installing it, to avoid future problems. Following this dynamic, you can choose as many fonts and letters as you want.
And just by selecting "Install" and confirming the action, you will have a new source available on your mobile. And how can you use the new font as the default on your mobile? Follow these steps:
- Settings >> Display >> Font style and size
- Choose Font type and choose your new font as the default.
You will see that automatically the font will be applied throughout the system and installed applications. And if you don't like the free fonts that Galaxy Store offers, you can try the following free option to add more fonts to your mobile.
How to install fonts from Google Fonts on your mobile
GxFonts is an app that allows you to access hundreds of Google Fonts and increase the options that come by default in Samsung. And an interesting detail of this app is that you don't need permission as "root" to make modifications.
To start using GxFonts on your mobile you will need to give a series of permissions to access the multimedia content and files of the mobile. Once enabled, you can choose the type of font you want to download and install on your mobile.
If you don't know where to start, take a look at the Google Fonts page to see its extensive collection of fonts. When you find a letter that you like, you type its name in the GxFont text box. And if applicable, you can use the drop-down menu to choose the type of font.
You can see an example in the images. To install the "Ubuntu" font we start by selecting "Download". And then we follow all the corresponding steps to install it on the mobile.
To make sure that the system took the installation you can restart the mobile and then follow the steps to select it as the default font. As we mentioned in the previous item, you have to go to Settings >> Display >> Font size and style >> Font type.
One detail to keep in mind about GxFonts is that it does not work on all versions of Android. If you try this process with a Samsung mobile with Android 10 you will see that it presents a series of errors, and that it will cost a lot to finish the installation correctly. But you can give it a try if you use any older version of Android.
These are just some options to install new fonts on your Samsung mobile. There are also paid applications, and other methods through APK that allow you to extend your collection of fonts on your device. But if you want to start with something simple and free, you can try some of the options we mentioned.
You can create a collection of different fonts and then intersperse their use as the default, depending on the type of style you want for the system and applications. And of course, all the fonts that you add to the mobile, you can uninstall them at any time.
