Every time we click on a web page link on our Xiaomi phone, it opens through a browser that we have installed, be it Chrome, Firefox, Opera or any other predetermined by the brand. In the case of the phones of this Chinese brand, as they have their own personalization layer, they have their own browser already pre-installed. For whatever reason, you may not want to use this browser and you are interested in having everything open through another that you like. And this is precisely what we are going to teach you to do: set the browser you prefer as the default so that it opens all your links.
This tutorial can also be applied to all Xiaomi phones that have MIUI customization layer such as Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, Note 5, Note 6 Pro, Note 7, Note 8, Mi 8, Mi 9, Mi 9T, Mi 9T Pro, Redmi 5, Redmi 6, Redmi 7… Make sure you do not have the brand's terminals that have pure Android, which are the Xiaomi Mi A1, Mi A2, Mi A2 Lite and Mi A3. Follow the steps that we tell you below with the mobile in hand, the procedure is very simple and your phone will not be in any danger, since the adjustments are made from its own internal menu. The tutorial is done using a terminal with MIUI 11 but the steps are practically identical.
Set the browser you want as the default on a Xiaomi mobile
To configure a specific browser as the default we have to look for an application that we all already have installed on our mobiles and that is called 'Security'. As soon as you open the application, it will scan your terminal to show results related to its optimization. For the moment we are going to leave this aside and we are going to focus on the 'Manage applications' section as we see in the screenshot.
On the next screen we will press the three-point menu that we have located in the upper right part of the screen and a small pop-up window will open where we will enter ' default applications '. In this section we are going to place not only the browser but, for example, the default messaging application, the music player, the launcher, etc.
We go to the 'Browser' section and choose the one we want as the default. And that's it, these are all the steps we will have to do.
