Changing your SIM card PIN code may seem like a thing of the past. Although today this practice is rather uncommon, the truth is that it is still being searched for by many users, even more so if we talk about iPhone and iPad. And it is that like other manufacturers such as Honor or Xiaomi, those of Cupertino have decided to hide this option to avoid accidental changes. Fortunately, changing the PIN on iPhone is really easy, and it won't take us more than two minutes.
Since the steps that we will see below are common in iOS 10, 11, 12 and 13, the instructions are compatible with models of iPhone 5, iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPhone XR, and iPhone XS and XS Max. Also with iPad 4, iPad 5, iPad Air and Air 2, iPad Pro and iPad Mini 2, 3, 4 and 5.
This is how you can change the SIM PIN on an iPhone and iPad with iOS 12 and iOS 13
Changing the PIN code in iOS is a process that is generally similar in all versions of the system. The starting point to change the SIM PIN is the iOS Settings application, which we can find on the desktop along with the rest of the applications.
Once we are inside the application, we will go to the Telephone section that we can find between Reminders and Messages. Then, we will click on the SIM PIN option and finally on the Change PIN option.
Like any code change process, we will have to enter the PIN code that currently operates with our SIM card. Finally we will introduce the new numeric key, the minimum length of which must start at four characters.
Within this same section we can also disable the PIN request by unchecking the SIM PIN box. In this way, iOS will not ask for the PIN code of the network card again with each restart of the iPhone or iPad.
To check that the PIN change has been made correctly, we will restart iOS and enter the PIN code that we entered in the previous step. Since the code provided by the operator will not be effective, the best way to avoid losing the aforementioned code is to write it down in an application such as Notes, Messages or Reminders.
