Changing the PIN code of the SIM card until a few years ago was a process that took us little more than a minute. Currently, most manufacturers choose to hide this option in their respective customization layers in order to improve the security of their phones. This is the case of Honor, who for several years has decided to hide the option to change the PIN in EMUI, the customization layer of Honor and Huawei phones. That is why this time we will show you how to change the PIN code on an Honor mobile in a simple way and without the need to resort to third-party solutions.
The steps that we will see below are compatible with all Honor phones with EMUI 5, 8, 9 and 10: Honor 20, 10, 9 and 8, Honor 9 Lite, 10 Lite and 20 Lite and Honor 6X, 7X and 9X.
So you can change the PIN on Honor with EMUI
Changing the PIN code in EMUI, the layer that all Huawei and Honor phones have, is a relatively simple process as long as we have the current PIN. First, we will have to go to the Android Settings application; specifically to the Security and privacy section.
Then we will click on Additional Settings and then on Encryption and credentials. Finally, we will click on Configure SIM 1 / SIM 2 lock in case our phone has Dual SIM and finally on Change SIM PIN1 / PIN2.
At this point the process is as simple as entering the old PIN code and entering a new code that does not match the new PIN. Once we have saved the code, we will restart the terminal to verify that the changes have been applied correctly. If you have two SIM cards, the system will require both codes to enable access to the network.
How to remove the PIN code from an Honor mobile
If we prefer to remove the PIN code from the card so that the system stops making the request once the process has started, it is as simple as going back to the Configure SIM 1 / SIM 2 lock section in the Privacy and Security section and disable the Lock SIM card option.
For the changes to be applied to the second SIM card in case of having a Dual SIM mobile, we will have to follow the same process in the SIM 1 or SIM 2 section.
