Calls from unknown numbers can be very annoying when behind those numbers is a spam or advertising call. Apple has thought about this for its iPhone users and has introduced a new and quite effective feature in iOS 13. It is about the possibility of being able to silence all those phone numbers that are not in our contact list, or that are not in our favorites. In this way, from now on it will be possible to bypass calls that you do not want to receive.
This new function is very reminiscent of Truecaller-type apps, although in its case it goes even further: it offers the user the possibility to redirect those calls to their voice mailbox. The good thing about this is that this way we will not have to block the calls completely, since we will be able to know if there are any important ones among those filtered. These calls will also appear in the recent calls list, in case we want to later check the numbers without having to go to voicemail.
How to mute unknown calls on your iPhone
To silence calls from unknown numbers, you just have to have iOS 13 installed on your iPhone and enter the settings section. Next, go to the Telephone section and open this section. Next, find the new "Mute Unknown Numbers" feature and turn the lever so that it turns green and is on. Keep in mind that those numbers from your contacts, numbers that you recently called and Siri suggestions will continue to ring. As we say, only all the numbers that do not appear in your phone book and that you have never dialed will stop ringing.
Check voicemail on iPhone
To check all the silenced calls that come to you from now on through your iPhone's voicemail, you must first activate the answering machine of the operator where you have your data plan contracted. In the case of Vodafone, for example, you have to dial * 147 # for the activation for free. Once this is done, to consult it, go to the phone icon on the main panel of the device and click on Voicemail, which is displayed at the bottom next to contacts and keyboard. The silenced numbers will appear here, and you can listen to the messages from this section, if someone has left you one. In any case, you can see the numbers in case you think one of them is not spam and you want to contact him.
