The keyboard that is installed as standard in mobile terminals with the iOS operating system includes different customization options accessible from the Settings menu. While in previous tutorials we have explained curious shortcuts related to the iPhone keyboard and even tricks in which we can take advantage of the iOS keyboard, this time we are going to detail step by step how to add other languages to the keyboard of an iPhone or iPad.
The option to add other languages to the iOS keyboard allows us to configure a different language on the keyboard than the one installed as standard, which is especially useful when needing to enter characters and signs that only exist in a certain language. To follow this tutorial we will not need to install any application, since the entire procedure is done from the Settings menu of any iPhone or iPad with the iOS operating system in its version of iOS 7 or higher.
How to add other languages on the iPhone or iPad keyboard
- First of all we enter the Settings application of our iPhone or iPad.
- Once inside, click on the " General " section, which appears accompanied by a small icon of a gear on a gray background.
- Within this section we must search and then click on the " Keyboard " option.
- On the screen that will open when you click on the previous option we will see different options accompanied by a button, but in this case what interests us is the option that appears at the bottom of the screen under the name " Keyboards ". Click on this option.
- On the screen that will now open we will see all the languages that we have configured on our keyboard. In general, if we have not made any changes to this section, the two keyboards that will appear will be " Spanish " and " Emoji " (the keyboard of icons). Below all the keyboards added to our terminal we will also visualize an option with the name of " Add new keyboard "; click on it.
- Now we only have to choose the language we want to add to our keyboard. To do this, we must slide the screen down until we find the language we are looking for. Once we have found it, click on the language and it will automatically be added to our keyboard.
- But… and how can we use that keyboard on our iPhone or iPad when writing a text? Very simple: at the moment in which we are writing a message we will have to look at the icon with the world ball that appears at the bottom of the screen. We will click on that icon for several seconds and a small drop-down menu should appear in which we can select the language we want to use on the keyboard.
