If we have a free Samsung Galaxy S4, but we do not have an automated notification that alerts us about new updates, we may be delighted to receive an interesting surprise: Android 4.3 Jelly Bean is here. Days ago the distribution of improvements began among the units of the South Korean high-end, and already then we were warning that the arrival to the teams with Spanish stamp would be imminent. We were not going wrong, and from this week you can get the most recent version of Google's operating system "" with permission from Android 4.4 KitKat, reserved for the moment for phones and tablets of the Nexus series "".
To download and install Android 4.3 Jelly Bean on the Samsung Galaxy S4 we can choose two routes: the OTA ( over the air ) wireless route or using the computer as an intermediary with the Samsung Kies application. The latter is the fastest, although somewhat cumbersome, since it forces us to connect the mobile phone to our PC, Mac or laptop, either via microUSB or Bluetooth, and use the aforementioned application. However, with this method we avoid the shifts of the wireless route and the whole process is self-managed by Kies: just connect the Samsung Galaxy S4, open the application and it will indicate that there is an update available. We would only have to make a backup copy as a precaution, accept the download of the news package and not worry.
The other itinerary is more comfortable, although it also has its considerations. As we say, it is possible that if we have automated the search for updates, a notification has warned us of the availability of the new software. If so, we would only have to follow the instructions indicated on the screen, as long as we are connected to a Wi-Fi network, since the process will take us to download almost 680 MB of data. In the event that we do not have the notification that indicates the presence of updates, we could consult it manually. Let's see how.
We would have to go first to the Android system settings menu. A screen will open where we will detect four tabs in the upper area. Of these, we are interested in selecting the fourth, which we identify as «More», so that we will access a submenu, among whose sections we will see one entitled «About the device». Upon entering here, the first one that we will have in front of us is presented as "Software update", where in addition to being able to check the box that indicates the periodic consultation of new updates in the Samsung repositories, we will see a button that allows you to do the search manually.
By selecting it, we will check that it indicates the availability of a new software enhancement package. We may receive a warning that the download is currently not possible. Given that, we can choose to save some patience and do it at another time or go to Samsung Kies, following the first method that we have described.
When the process begins, we will be shown a progress bar with a time counter. Depending on our wireless connection, the task may take more or less, approximately 30-45 minutes, plus an additional delay for installation. When everything is over, the Samsung Galaxy S4 will restart and we can start enjoying Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.
