We already echoed yesterday that the Samsung Galaxy S2 is ready in Spain for its update to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. Given this, a series of nuances should be noted. To begin with, the free terminals are the first to receive improvements to the Google operating system. In addition, the process is carried out in a staggered manner. This means that all free units distributed in Spain do not have the update available at the same time. At least, following the OTA process, that is, wireless, which allows us to access the package of improvements directly from the phone. Another case is that we do it through Samsung Kies, the computer application that acts as a bridge between our terminal and the news that is hosted on the servers of the South Korean firm.
So, as we say, there are two ways to update the phone. If impatience can, his thing is to turn to Kies. This application is free and can be downloaded to your computer from the official Samsung website. To give us an idea, it is a kind of iTunes designed for terminals of the South Korean firm. Once downloaded, installed and opened, this platform will inform us of the availability of a new version of the operating system for the Samsung Galaxy S2 as soon as we connect it via USB. Before proceeding with the update, it is convenient that we make a backupof our data contained in the memory of the terminal. There does not have to be problems during the process, but by taking a few minutes to save the information we heal ourselves from possible scares and loss of contacts, photos, music, video or settings.
After saving the data, we proceed with the update from the corresponding button, which can be seen on the main Kies screen. The download and update will take us less than ten minutes, and during that time, of course, you will not be able to perform operations with the phone. Once the process is finished, the Samsung Galaxy S2 will restart to be seen with all the news of Android 4.1.2 and the Premium Suite at the user's disposal.
The other method to update the phone is to do it using the OTA function, or Over the Air . It is a very comfortable option because it does not require more devices than the Samsung Galaxy S2 itself. However, as we say, during the first stages of availability it is usually an ineffective way if we want to update at the moment. It is not surprising that if we start to resort to the OTA update we are prevented from accessing the package of improvements, which is determined by the over-demand that occurs right at that moment and the distribution of places to allow, in an orderly manner, to access the update.
In any case, it is possible to get Android 4.1.2 for Samsung Galaxy S2 via this route. To do this, we only have to go first to the system settings menu. We will find this one by dragging the notification bar, and looking at the upper right margin of the screen: it is the little icon that represents a gear wheel. We also have access to our disposal by pressing, from the main screen, on the left capacitive button "" the one on this side of the only physical key that the phone has on the front "": among the options that are displayed we will see the of settings. And of course, from the applications menu, navigating between the icons, we will find the gear wheel described in a larger size.
Once we enter settings, we must go to the last section, entitled, About the phone. Once there, we access the first of the available options, which we will identify as Software Update. The next submenu that will appear before us allows us to check the availability status of the update. To do this, we would only have to click on the Update command. As we say, we may not receive a step to download the upgrade package. This being the case, we should repeat the operation after a few minutes or at any other time. In case we get impatient, we could always turn to Kies.
