The latest update received by the latest Samsung hybrid brought some system improvements as well as some new functions both in the camera and in the multi-window system. But how do you update the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to Android 4.1.2 ? We explain it step by step.
The improvements became noticeable once the latest phablet - hybrid between a smartphone and a tablet - was updated. The latest version launched by the company was the one that was numbered Android 4.1.2, the same as it happened with its smaller brother, the Samsung Galaxy S3.
In the first place, the equipment that had been sold in free format, have been the first to receive the improvements; the other terminals obtained through a national operator, the latter will be in charge of launching the pertinent update.
Now, to know if Android 4.1.2 has reached our team, the first thing to do is check through the smartphone menus if it is available. How do you do this? Very simple: you have to go to the "Settings" icon that is located in the main menu "" eye, not on the home screen "", although everything will depend on the configuration of each user.
Once inside, you should go to one of the last options offered by this new menu, known as "About the device". Once inside, you can find all the information that refers to the operating system, the mobile model, etc. Before updating to the latest version, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 should indicate that it has Android version 4.1.1 installed.
Also, the first of the options offered within the new menu is the one indicated as "Software update". Inside you can check that there is the possibility of asking the Samsung server if there is a new update ready to download. If it is negative, the terminal will indicate that the equipment already has the latest version. If so, the software will be downloaded and installed later.
Of course, before proceeding with its installation, it is always advisable to make a backup copy of all the information stored in the memory of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, in case an error occurs and all the material is lost during the operation. Likewise, it is always advisable to have the terminal "" in charging mode "" connected to the electrical network, as well as to make use of a WiFi connection and set aside the 3G data rate.
Once the installation is carried out, the terminal must be left to finish the process without doing any action in the meantime; the computer will restart; the PIN number of the calling card will be requested, and going back to the previous steps until the option “About the device”, the new Android version that has just been installed should be reflected.
However, another option, as long as you do not want to use the update via OTA ”” or without cables ””, is to proceed through the specific program, and free, of Samsung known under the name Samsung Kies. In this way, you only have to connect with a USB cable to the computer, and the program itself will guide you through all the steps to be performed. What's more, Samsung Kies itself will offer the option of making a backup before performing the firmware update.
Once the Android 4.1.2 version is installed in the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, it will be possible to verify that from now on there is a new button in the notification bar: it is the one that refers to the multi-window function "" function that is activated with a long press on the virtual back button "". From this button the function can be activated or deactivated much faster. Also, in the part of the camera, now you can zoom from the physical volume buttons that are on one of the sides of the chassis, thus becoming a compact camera.
