Did you know that Android has a Do Not Disturb mode to avoid annoying notifications when you go to sleep? It works as an alternative to silent mode to ensure that you receive calls from important contacts. And the alarm sounds too!
Do not disturb mode settings may vary slightly depending on the brand of your mobile. But in essence they all allow the same thing: customize the notifications you want to receive and schedule a rest time without annoying interruptions.
We tell you step by step how to configure Do Not Disturb mode in Android 7.
How to activate and program Do Not Disturb mode in Android 7
The first thing we have to do is find the corresponding section in the settings menu. In many models it is in Settings> Notifications and is called "Do not disturb" or "Do not interrupt".
Once you have configured the settings, you can turn this function on and off directly from the switch in the notification bar.
Android Do Not Disturb mode is a special type of silent mode that allows alarms to sound. By using it, we can forget about notifications during a meeting or go to sleep without being disturbed by calls or messages from our contacts.
In the advanced settings you can configure the parameters of this mode:
- Do not interrupt: the phone will not ring for any calls or notifications, and it will not even sound for alarms.
- Only alarms: the only thing that will sound on the mobile will be the alarms that you have programmed.
- Allow only priority interrupts.
If you turn on priority interruptions, alarms and notifications from important users will sound. This option is very useful if you want to be available "in case of emergency" for certain contacts.
How Priority Interrupts Work
Imagine that you want to receive calls or messages from certain contacts at any time, in case of an emergency. In that case you can configure a white list of numbers that can call you and send messages.
Also, some phones allow you to unmute for contact calls that occur in a row. In other words, if the same person calls you twice in three minutes, the phone will ring even if Do Not Disturb is activated.
How to program Do Not Disturb Mode
Another interesting detail of this function is that we can program the automatic activation time. For example, we will select the activation of the Do Not Disturb mode every day from 11:30 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. to ensure that we are allowed to sleep at night.
