The iPad or even the iPhone Xs Max are highly recommended devices for reading all kinds of books. Its large screens, with True Tone technology, allow you to read books comfortably from the bed or sofa. In addition, in the iOS Books application we can find titles for all tastes. However, the brightness that the screen of this type of device gives off can be annoying if we read in low light conditions. That is why the Books application incorporates a dark mode with various configuration options. We can choose the most comfortable background color for us, as well as indicate that the dark mode is activated automatically.
How to turn on dark mode in the iOS Books app
Activating the dark mode of the Books application on the iPhone or iPad is very simple. To do this, the first thing we will do is open the Books application, enter our library and select one of the books that we have in our collection.
Once a book is open, whatever it is, we will press in the center of the device to open the controls at the top of the screen. To activate the dark mode we will have to press the icon with two “A” in the upper right part. Under the options for "Font" and size, we will see four colors: white, sepia, dark gray and black. This will be the color that the dark mode uses.
Under the colors we have the option to activate the "Night Theme" automatically. This option only works with white, sepia, or gray. If we want to use the black background we will not be able to activate the automatic option.
Dark mode is a comfortable way to read books on electronic devices without straining your eyes excessively. In addition, both the iPhone and the iPad have various technologies on the screen to improve reading.
We have for example the True Tone system. It is a six-channel light sensor that subtly adjusts the screen's white balance by adapting it to the color temperature of the surrounding light. The result is more natural images, which appear printed. This translates into less eyestrain, ideal for reading books.
