A month after the Mobile World Congress, there are not a few brands that decide to present their products before the celebration of the most important technology fair in the world. This is the case of ASUS, which a few minutes ago has launched in Spain (previously it was launched in other countries) what is supposed to be the natural evolution of the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1. We refer to the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2, a mobile oriented to the mid-range that, among other features, has a 5,000 mAh battery with up to 10 hours of active screen using games. It does so without exceeding the psychological barrier of 300 euros to compete with the main telephone brands.

Design and screen in the average of the rest of brands
If there is something that stands out for this and many other mobiles in the mid-range market, it is for the design. The ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 has lines based on a body made entirely of curved glass along with a screen with IPS technology that occupies much of the front of the device. The latter is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection (the latest version on the market), and is accompanied by a small notch.
Regarding the technical characteristics of the screen, we find a 6.3-inch IPS panel with Full HD + resolution, 19: 9 ratio and a color reproduction of up to 94% on the NTSC scale. In addition, it has up to 450 nits and a 1500: 1 contrast ratio. Its touch panel is capable of recognizing up to 10 points at the same time.
Otherwise, the Max Pro M2 is manufactured in two different colors, Midnight Blue and Cosmic Titanium. It has a weight of 175 grams and a thickness of 8.5 millimeters, not far fetched to house a 5,000 mAh battery.
Cameras that aim for the highest
The photographic section is usually one of the aspects where mid-range mobiles tend to falter. This is not the case with the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2. In short, it has two 12 and 5 megapixel rear cameras with focal aperture f / 1.8 in the main sensor, which is based on the Sony IMX 486.
Although we do not have photographic results, the specifications advance images with good brightness at night and a level of detail in accordance with the resolution. Also the portrait mode points ways thanks to its second 5 megapixel depth sensor and the PDAF scene detection system assisted by the Artificial Intelligence of the processor. In the video section, ASUS ensures that thanks to the EIS (electronic stabilization) the scene manages to remain stable at all times.
In what has to do with the front camera, we find a 13 megapixel sensor and focal aperture f / 2.0. Good definition and brightness in dark environments thanks to the integration of an LED flash.
Performance in the mid-range line
In the performance section, here we do not expect surprises, as the terminal has the same characteristics as the rest of mid-range phones.
In summary, we find a Snapdragon 660 processor accompanied by 3, 4 or 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. Together with the Adreno 512 GPU, the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 is expected to be capable of moving any game with demanding 3D graphics.
From this highlight the integration of Artificial Intelligence, from which aspects such as photography or energy consumption will benefit.
The best thing about the phone: the battery and connectivity
If there are two aspects that stand out from the ASUS mid-range, they are autonomy and connectivity. In technical data we find a 5,000 mAh battery that according to the manufacturer is capable of reaching 10 hours of active screen while we play and up to 19 hours if we play a YouTube video. It also has fast charging, although ASUS has not specified the type or voltage (for the type of Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 processor is expected).
As for connectivity, the terminal leaves no one indifferent. 2.4 GHz WiFi, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, expandability through micro SD cards up to 2 TB and Dual SIM LTE category 5 technology. The downside is that we do not have USB type C, but micro USB. In addition, the WiFi antenna does not have dual band, something that we must take into account if we have 5G networks.
ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 price and availability
The ASUS mid-range has been launched this morning and can already be purchased at the main points of sale. It does so at a price that starts at 299 euros in its most basic version with 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. The starting price of the rest of the capacities is unknown.
Finally, it should be noted that if we buy the terminal before January 31, we can get an Asus ZenPower external battery of 10,050 mAh for free.
