The Asus ZenFone 5 is the second smartphone that this Taiwan- based company has presented at the CES 2014 technology event. It is a mid-range smartphone that will be available in stores for just over 110 euros. Asus has not announced the date of the phone's release on the market or the countries in which this terminal can be purchased.
The Asus ZenFone 5 is a phone that has a screen IPS of five inches with resolution HD of 1280 x 720 pixels. The dimensions of the terminal are 148.2 x 72.8 x 10.3 mm with a thickness of 5.5 mm. The total weight of the phone is 144 grams. Despite the fact that this smartphone is somewhat bulkier than the Asus ZenFone 4, its thickness turns out to be less than the smallest model in this Asus range.
The "brain" of the phone is an Intel Atom Z2580 processor that runs at a clock speed of 2 GHz. Memory RAM undergoes no change compared to the simplest version of this range, so that the terminal operates under a RAM of 1 gigabyte. This characteristic is repeated in the three phones of the ZenFone range that Asus has presented. The operating system installed as standard is Android in its version Android 4.3 (it is the most common version among mid-range mobiles and even many high-end mobiles). Still, Asushas made it known that in the not too distant future your ZenFone 5 will receive an update to raise the version of the operating system to Android 4.4 KitKat.
Asus has not disclosed what the internal storage of this phone will be like, so for now it is a mystery to know how many GigaBytes the internal memory of the terminal will have. What is known is that this memory can be expanded using an external microSD card of up to 64 GigaBytes in capacity.
The Asus ZenFone 5 features two cameras: a rear camera of eight megapixels and a front camera for video calls two megapixels.
In the case of this phone, the battery has a capacity of 2050 mAh. This is a significantly higher figure than the Asus ZenFone 4's battery, so anyone looking for a mobile with good autonomy should consider this option before the company's lower-end model.
Given the characteristics of the phone, we cannot talk about 4G connectivity, but there is WiFi connectivity for traditional wireless Internet connections and 3G connectivity to make use of mobile data connections.
The Asus ZenFone 5 will be available in four colors: black, white, red, and gold. As we have commented at the beginning of the article, the price of this phone will be around 110 euros, and the date of release of this model for the European market is currently unknown. As with the ZenFone 4, this terminal is expected to hit stores in the first quarter of 2014.
