The Asus company, based in Taiwan, has presented a new series of low-cost mobiles under the ZenFone range. These are smartphones with Android operating system and Intel Atom processor that will be sold in stores with prices starting at 70 euros. Specifically, this article focuses on the Asus ZenFone 4, the cheapest phone of the three that the company has presented at the CES 2014 technology event that is currently being held in Las Vegas until January 10.
The Asus ZenFone 4 is a smartphone that has a screen TFT of four inches with a resolution WVGA of 800 x 480 pixels. This screen is surrounded by a housing with dimensions of 124.4 x 61.4 x 11.2 mm with a thickness of 6.3 mm. The total weight of the terminal is 115 grams. The buttons on the front of the phone are not physical and are integrated with the screen, as occurs similarly in high-end mobiles such as the Nexus 5.
Inside the phone we find an Intel Atom Z2520 dual-core processor that runs at a clock speed of 1.2 GHz. To this feature we must add 1 GigaByte of RAM. Despite these characteristics, the mobile is capable of running the Android 4.3 operating system without problems, and Asus has also confirmed that it will soon be updated to the latest version of Android: Android 4.4 KitKat.
For now, the number of GigaBytes that the phone's internal storage will have is unknown (most likely it will be a capacity between 2 and 4 GigaBytes), although it is known that the memory can be expanded using an external microSD card of up to 64 GigaBytes.
The Asus ZenFone 4 has two cameras: a rear camera of five megapixels and a front camera for video calls 0.3 megapixel.
The battery of this terminal has a capacity of 1170 mAh. Although it is true that it is a figure that is below the batteries of other terminals on the market, it should be remembered that the Asus ZenFone 4 incorporates a very contained processor that in principle should not cause a large battery consumption.
The phone incorporates WiFi connectivity and 3G connectivity for wireless mobile Internet connections.
The most curious thing about this phone is that it will be available in no less than six colors: black, white, red, gold, blue and yellow. Recall that the Asus ZenFone 4 is the cheapest model of the three that the company has presented. It can be purchased for just over 70 euros (the prices that have been known are in dollars and may undergo small changes due to taxes) and for now Asus has not provided information regarding the launch date of this mobile in Spain. Still, the terminal is expected to be available in stores before the end of the first quarter of this year 2014.
