When the river sounds, water carries, and the rumors finally came true. If a few days ago we informed you that the presentation of the Asus Padfone Mini was imminent, today all the details are already official. It is a very versatile terminal, since it consists of a 4.3-inch mobile phone that can be inserted into a 7-inch chassis to use it in tablet mode whenever we want, and it is the affordable version of the already known Asus Padfone Infinity, with smaller dimensions of both the smartphone and the dock that functions as a tablet and, as expected, its technical specifications are more contained.
As a processor, it has a Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 (MSM8226) that operates at a speed of 1.40 GHz and integrates Adreno 305 graphics, and is complemented by 1 gigabyte of RAM. It has 16 gigabytes of internal storage expandable through microSD cards of up to 64 gigabytes and has support for two simultaneous SIM cards (dual-SIM).
Screen the phone itself, of 4.3 inches and IPS type, achieves a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels and comes with a battery of 1500 mAh while if you look at the body of the tablet, of 7 inches, the resolution rises to 1,200 x 800 points (also with IPS technology) and the battery is equally superior, reaching 2,200 mAh. As far as the operating system is concerned, Asus has not yet opted for the most recent Android 4.4 KitKat, but remains just in the previous version (Android Jelly Bean 4.3), and the weight of these two terminals separately is of105 grams in the case of the phone and 310 grams if we look at the tablet.
The terminal includes a rear chamber 8 megapixel LED flash and a maximum aperture of the aperture of f / 2.2, while the front stays 2 megapixels. There is also no lack of the most common connectivity options, such as 3G HSPA +, WiFi 802.11 b / g / n, WiFi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0 and the relevant GPS geolocation system.
At the moment, it will be marketed first in China, Russia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Indonesia, without yet being confirmed the date of exit in Europe. Its free price, without subsidy or the need to be tied to any permanent contract, would be around 300 euros if we convert the one announced into local currency for these markets, and it will be sold in three different colors: black, white and pink.
In view of all these characteristics, the main differences with respect to its older brother, the second generation Asus Padfone Infinity, are the processor (Snapdragon 400 in the Mini versus the 800 in the Infinity), RAM (one gigabyte instead of two) and the size of the smartphone (which drops to a more restrained 4.3 inches instead of the 5 inches of the original model).
