Table of contents:
Apple is in the best moment of its history. Proof of this are the economic results that the company itself presented during the previous quarter, the third so far this year. The main reason for its results is found precisely in the services. Now the company has diversified its revenues in a rather uneven ratio between software products and hardware products. The main affected, however, is the iPhone as a category and not as a particular product. The data published by the Gartner study speak of a loss of sales that is close to 5 million units compared to the same quarter of 2018.
People buy less and less iPhone
This has been confirmed by the recent study published by Gartner. In the comparison table of the group based in Stamford we can see that iPhone sales in number of units sold compared to the third quarter of last year have fallen 4.9 million, representing a decrease in sales of 10.7%. There is nothing.
The drop in units sold not only affects the global market, but also China, where the company has reduced the price of iPhones considerably. The reasons that are considered are diverse.
In the first place, the decrease in sales may be largely due to the price of the last iPhone presented last year, reaching the barrier of 1,200 and 1,300 euros if we talk about the XS and XS Max. Another reason being considered is the lack of innovation with respect to the models presented during 2017, at least in terms of design, camera and system functions. Proof of this are the improvements that Apple has introduced with the iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max.
Finally, it is worth highlighting the proximity of the third quarter of the year with the presentation of the new iPhone. Historically the company has suffered several declines in the number of iPhone sales during the penultimate quarter of each fiscal year. He has never been so accused; probably for the reasons that we have just indicated: the lack of innovation and the expectation of the company's clients to know the improvements that the new generation represents.
As a last curious fact, it is worth noting the increase of Samsung and Huawei in more than 6 and 13 million units sold compared to the same quarter of 2018. Xiaomi, however, has dropped by one million, probably due to the number of models presented within the same spectrum.
