It seems that the evolution of the folding screen, the protagonist of an eternal postponement such as the Samsung Galaxy Fold, will have its own evolution towards the roll-up screen. We have already seen devices with this type of technology such as the LG Signature Oled TV, which folds in on itself, hiding in the furniture that supports it and providing minimalism to the living room that locates it. In the following video you can see it in more detail.
Now, the company interested in having its own device with a roll-up screen is Apple. And it is not exactly as we have seen in the previous case of television, but it does go beyond the folding phones of Huawei and Samsung, since it would have a double winding mechanism, as if it were a burrito. The patent filed by the company is described as ' Electronic devices with a flexible or flexible region ' as well as ' Electronic device that has a screen layer and a cover layer that are configured to bend or bend along a flexible region '.
In the image we can see what appears to be either a mobile or a tablet, describing in it how the rolling mechanism of the screen in question would be. That a company applies for a product patent is not related to the fact that it will be a reality at some point, but we hope to see, surely sooner rather than later, an Apple device with a roll-up screen.
Between Figures 1A and 1B you can see the usual folding mechanism that we have already seen in the previous models that have been presented. The main novelty is seen in figure 4A, in which two different folding areas are distinguished, a main one that would make the usual central folding gesture and another, secondary, that would be above the previous one, wrapping the terminal in itself. We do not know how Apple would solve this double fold, considering the problems that Samsung has had with its postponed Samsung Galaxy Fold.
