Ten days after the release of iOS 9.3, Apple has made iOS 9.3.1 available to its users . The company intends with this new version to solve several important problems, such as the problem of links, which has collapsed hundreds of forums and specialized media. You can download the update directly from your device, as it is available via OTA. You just have to go into Settings> General> Software Update and look for the update to start the download.
Hours after being in public hands, the problems began. Users who updated to iOS 9.3 encountered a bug related to links, which prevented the device from responding when clicking on one, either from Safari or from other applications. Additionally, owners of older devices also had trouble accessing their device after updating. The system required the ID and password that were used to set up for the first time, something that not everyone remembered.
What most outraged users is that at no time did Apple publicly acknowledge the problem. Despite the multiple complaints in specialized media or even in the company's own official support forums, those of Cupertino did not issue any official statement to provide temporary solutions or encourage calm. They also did not say if they were working on a new update, nor did they communicate the time it would take to release it. In any case, iOS 9.3.1 has already landed on the company's mobile devices and, as can be read at the time of the update, “it solves a problem that caused the applications not to respond when clicking on Safari links and other applications ”.
After the stir caused, some media, including ourselves, gave a temporary solution to the issue of links. The important thing was, above all, to remove the Booking.com application from the device if it was installed. This app was one of the most affected by the problem, registering thousands of links. We also gave a temporary solution to the ID and password problem: Skip activation by entering the Find My iPhone function of the user's iCloud account.
We will have to wait a few hours to see if iOS 9.3.1 finally fixes all the problems caused, or if new ones appear that force the company to have to launch another emergency update. The truth is that despite the general discontent over these bugs and the lack of communication from the company, we cannot deny that Apple has had a quick response and has launched an official solution in a few days. As we say, you can already find it via OTA on your devices, although it is also possible to install it through iTunes.
