The iPhone 4S is Apple's best-selling mobile at its launch. Millions of reservations and the patient waiting for many customers at the doors of stores and operators confirm this. There is no data on the volume of units that the Cupertino have stocked so far, but it was learned that at least four million iPhone 4S were shipped during the first hours after going on sale.
The figure is spectacular, there is no doubt. But what then? The company itself seems to have seen the cauldron suddenly go cold. And it is that as we have learned through the specialized site DigiTimes, Apple would have found a foreseeable plummet in demand for the terminal for this last stretch of 2011.
The proof, they maintain from the aforementioned website dedicated to information about the sector, would be in the request that the Californian company would have made to some of its suppliers, urging them to stop the shipment of supplies and even delay deliveries, although the expectation that the stock of terminals cannot be sold at the same rate that they had come to anticipate in the beginning.
Another possible reading could be given if we had the possibility of a previous overproduction in the manufacture of the iPhone 4S, so that Apple had a level of stock more than enough to be able to satisfy the, on the other hand, huge demand that all manufacturers contemplate in the weeks anticipate the Christmas campaign.
Such could also be the case with the iPad 2. And it is that the suppliers of the parts necessary to manufacture the latest edition of the apple tablet have also received a notification from Apple to reduce or delay the shipment of material, also anticipating a reduction in the number of units assembled for the section end of 2011.
In total, according to a report prepared by the Chinese media Commercial Times, Apple would have estimated the decline in the manufacture of terminals with respect to previous forecasts of between ten and fifteen percent for the last quarter of the year.
However, another interpretation supported from these data is that Apple has voluntarily delayed that percentage of components for the first quarter of 2012, a period in which, for some reason, they would contemplate sales that should be supported by a good level of Stock of materials and, therefore, of devices.
